Are you married or common-law with your Canadian sponsor? If so, you can submit the Outland application now; no need to wait until you come to Canada.

Personally, since the Outland process is soooo much faster for those from the UK, I do NOT recommend applying Inland...even with the tempting carrot (OWP) for Inland applicants.
Hey, so if i were to do the outland app, i wouldnt be allowed to enter Canada until it all went through right? Also im a UK resident but am currently travelling and there is a potential that my spouse will also be travelling to with me to New Zealand for a year in August which im guessing will cause complications.

Currently we could only go through on common law as arent yet married (dated for later this year ) though we would be applying after then anyway. As its better to wait because if went through on common law i wont be able to work there and then later in the year we would be getting married anyway.

You can be anywhere in the world and submit an outland application, including Canada. You are free to come and go, with no impact on your application (though you still need to satisfy CBSA that you are a visitor).

If he decides to go travelling for a year, then yes, I suspect that will cause problems, because CIC is looking for proof that your spouse will return to Canada immediately once your PR is issued, not take off and travel. That's exactly the opposite of what CIC wants.

Hello,

I am planning to apply for a spouse workpermit, I am living with my girl friend for the past six months, we are planning to get married as my restoration status ends by March 2015. My girl friend has a study permit and it is valid until end of 2016.

MY doubts are

1. Will I get a open work permit ?

2. What is the current processing time for spouse work permit ?

3. Types of for,s to be filled and documents to be attached ?

Please help! Thanks in advance!

Post your question to either the Temporary Workers or International Students section of the forum.

Important information IMM 008 is a new form - please check all the forms are updated it is all online if you download from online no problesm. Please do not buy any forms from consultants if they ask you to pay call the CIC and they will get a red notice. it is supposed to be free.

No! You don't have to change your last name. It's 2015! I didn't tske my husband's name for the application process. It's your choice and MANY people prefer to keep their own last name regardless, especially in a professional manner.

You can take your spouse's name socially, but legally and professionally still keep your maiden name in today's day and age.
It won't affect your application.

Funny thing in Québec is that they won't recognize changed names - if you've changed your name legally, and your Canadian documents have your new last name, they will only use your last name at birth on official Quebec documents. It's very confusing for people who have changed their names to have half of their documents with one name and the other with a different name.

My wife and I met each other at internet, started dating august, 2013.
We both born at the same country (Brazil).
Since then, we talk everyday on videochat and whatsapp.
She came to visit me at first time in may, 2014 (stayed for 3 months) and now, january 2015 and we get married.
Now she is back on Canada.
We have lots of pics, Skype screenshots, photos with family and friends, marriage, trip of honeymoon, etc...
Is it a good case in your opinion?
Is there any red flag?
I'll send my file on next month, just waiting for my upfront medical (feb, 19).

Ps: Apply outland.

If someone knew,it would be a little easier, :-[,,but the waiting time is different for everyone,,if ur VO is New Delhi , on CIC the average processing time is 15 months,,but many cases are done sooner,it depends on the case

Hello!
Kindly if someone can help me understand the process with the sponsorship application.
There is a paragraph in the Sponsorship guide which tells that both - sponsorship application and permanent residence application must be sent at the same time.
Regarding sponsorship application, I have found 3 parts: Guide to sponsorship (IMM 3900), Immigration Forms (IMM 3999) and Information Guides for Eastern Europe (IMM 3902).
Where could I find the PR application? Is this application form already included in the Sponsorship forms?

Thank you very much for your help!
Alex

I have found them already. I do not understand the part with the permanent residence application.
Are there 2 applications? One is the Spousal Sponsorship and the other one is PR app? It is confusing...

You have to complete both parts of the application package and submit them together.
