3hr flight over the grand canyon... First flight for me, and the WestJet pilot wanted to show everyone why his job is the greatest.. he barrel-rolled the 737 repeatedly for sky photos... Ground, space, ground, space. I am pretty sure I saw my life flashing before my eyes, as he didn't tell us (or I didn't hear) that he'd do that.....

US Customs was <10 literal Seconds. Cleared at Pearson
my nana would break out the rosary beads in St Lucia you fly pass a mountain

Ok. So couple of things.... Your sponsor is Canadian, yes? He has citizenship? If so, don't worry too much about it.

Here's why:
When he immigrated, they created a record for him at that time, based on his parent's details. That record is forever linked to him via UCI. That means, the number on his passport, his citizenship card, etc all will forever be linked to his file. They know very well who he is.

If you're not placated by this assertion, you can easily go to a MPs office, explain the trouble with CIC, give them the ID, and have them try to sort it out.

If it was me, I would rest assured that it's a systems flaw, and that he is tied via UCI. To test, try logging into ECAS using that UCI as identification.

HTH!

Thanks for your reply. yes, he is Canadian since he was 10-year-old.

This is what is written on MyCIC sign in homepage: "
  • You may see an incorrect application status asking for a medical exam or additional documents. If you actually need to send any documents or do a medical, you will see a message in your account and a letter explaining what you need to do. "

An answer to the glitches finally.

I just met a Ukrainian/Russian couple to applied for a visa to visit SLU and they told me the same thing about requiring a Schengen wisa.

For some reason I have no desire to visit Wegas. I went to a casino New Orleans (New Orleeeeeenz) and they are allowed to smoke there and it was awful. So I just figured that all casinos in Wegas are like that.

BTW, New Orleeeeeenz is a great place to visit.
I went to New Orleans back in 2003. I was relatively young (22 at that time) and I didn't speak much of English. I couldn't understand their accent and I didn't feel safe there. Probably my feeling would be different nowadays, but that's not a city I enjoyed much.

True Story. Back in those days, it had a population of 20,000. Furthest from this area I have been was Wegas. Boy I hated that trip...

I miss the pre 9/11 days. Honest I remember crossing at Rainbow / Lewiston bridges to and from Canada with my cousin. They didn't ask about me at all... I could have been trafficked!

Many countries out there have a visa recip. agreement with Canada. It's one of the reasons Ms Profiler wants a blue passport. As it is now, she has to get a Schengen wisa to visit most of Europe. Hopefully C-6 passes soon!
I've never visited Vegas, but in the USA my top 2 cities in which I attended a scientific meeting are San Diego and Chicago. I also went to New Orleans, Washington, Seattle and Atlanta. But the very best were the European meetings, I went to Amsterdam and Barcelona. That's one good thing about doing postgraduate studies. Hey it cannot be only disadvantages!!
Regarding C6, I heard they wanted to vote it before Canada day... hopefully they'll do!

@profiler bill C-6 is on the agenda of the house of common for Monday June 12, at 6:30 PM!

Some more delays with Bill C-6. Liberals will modify one of the amendments, accept another one and reject the third one. So it will have to go back to Senate which could accept as is or... amend it and send it again to the house of common. Hopefully they won't play ping pong for too long.

That's too bad, I thought we are almost there in terms of that bill coming into effect..!! Sigh :(

Question: At the landing interview, do they give back the documents sent along with application (e.g. photos, police record etc)? In between the time when I get the new SIN (probably same day) and my employer updates it, if there is any payday and pay is processed through the old SIN number, is that going to be a problem?

I still think it will be accepted, but I don't know if it will be before the summer break. Hopefully, the Senate will also put bill c-6 on their agenda soon after the vote in the house of commons.

At the landing interview, you get only your CoPR, you won't get anything back from what you sent CIC. Regarding your SIN, no problems at all. When you'll get the new one, they will tell you that you should inform your current employer as soon as possible. So few days is quite normal.

As @sylvain1 says, it's no issue. They know employers remit taxes on quarters usually. So they link the temp to the perm. They become the same account...

Yes, if you're not seeing the message it means it's just a glitch which isn't fixed for everyone as yet and unfortunately you weren't asked for medical. If you would like to be 100% sure simply call the centre on Monday from 8am.
