Yes, because I have read for some people it took a long time even after AIP. So why not apply for work permit and start working. One income isn't enough. So it's better to have a work permit handy asap, and gain some sort of status. But if I get DM before getting the work permit. I think we can withdrawal the application for work permit and get refund on it (even if they won't refund, still okay because we have DM) lol. So why not give it a try.

But for now I don't even know if I have the AIP or not yet. Because to apply for work permit I have to have AIP. Just on SA I can't apply for it.

In theory no, medical and background check come after AIP. They are part of the second stage of approval. But indeed, they usually request them before giving AIP.
SA and AIP come in different letters. You have a representative so all communications go to your representative, but SA is normally sent to the Sponsor, the AIP to the principal applicant.

Ok, then you probably don't have AIP, because it would show decision made on the principal applicant side. But sometimes the system is not updated. So if your representative really got the letter, then you have but ask to see it.

Yes, I emailed to her and now just waiting on her reply. Let's see what she says. Hopefully I have the AIP. It will be a bit relief.

I got my APR letter 2 days after my husband got his SA letter. May 30 and June 1. Best of luck to you!

Hello everyone.

My representative called and did let us know that we got AIP yesterday, and told me that I can apply for my work permit now, since I was out of status. I went to her today and she had my application ready for me for the work permit. And then I asked her to forward me the email that she got from CIC. And when I checked the email after getting at home. It turned out that it is SA not AIP. I tried calling her back again but at that time their office was close. However I left her an email asking that either she has got one another email as well indicating that we got AIP or not. I guess now I have to wait for her reply till Monday.

My question is that, AIP and SA usually comes in two different emails, right?

You aren't alone! My sponsor's online tool view reads "decision made" yet all that shows is below. My application (principle applicant) reads as only "application received" has the status below and yet my representative has not received any communication:

Ok, then you probably don't have AIP, because it would show decision made on the principal applicant side. But sometimes the system is not updated. So if your representative really got the letter, then you have but ask to see it.

Actually, for my wife's case, the PA side said "Application Received" until she landed. Then it switched to "Complete".

But once they start processing, you can't get a refund.... There is a chance, and it's a pretty good chance, that you may waste money here...

Neither my rep nor myself has seen any documents in the mail come thru. We don't know whats up!
