It's cute when they are wrong :). BUT, a DM is actually coming. It's just a matter of when. And BTW -- I hate to be *THAT* guy, but I told-a-so. Your forms that needed correcting didn't slow you down, at all :).

Close enough. My wife treats her PR like citizenship. She isn't interested (yet) in politics, or holding a Canadian political office (or high-security job). So, in the absence of those things (and the passport -- which she does want), she can do most everything else.
too cute it's a big deal for people to get pr than citizenship

Lmao... Ahh the Simpsons. Every North Americans reality for two decades...

Teaching, I was a "subject matter expert". One of my old profs was my supervisor. Was epic on paper. 4k a month after income tax, for 15hrs a week work.

Add that to the "day job" and hey, we are doing ok! But then the crazy ex wanted me to pay for full time day care, despite being home, and leave work at ridiculous times (early!!)

Anyway, I'll keep you updated on the flirtations... If they're just not that into me, I'll send them Sam's body-pic... #swimmer. You know, I have a Bronze Cross Sam? True story. Past life parent-profilers made me into a dolphin...then beer and computers made me fat...

Ya, I wish I could be like Michael Phelps..!! How long did you train to get that Bronze Cross? ;)

Never saw that show, unfortunately. Some of my friends, to kid me, used to tell me that PhD stands for Permanent Head Damage.... cause you need to be a bit crazy to do one ;)

Which field are you in? There are ways for PhDs to make money as well, except you do not stick to the general traditional approach of academics I guess..!! :)

Do you guys know approximately how long is taking from the moment you sent your papers until getting the final response that the PR has been approved?
Does anyone know in what applications are they working now?
Thank you

;)

So it's having all the prerequisite swim levels completed, and being >= 13y/o. Takes 18-20hrs to complete. Assuming you are close enough to Michael, you can usually finish it first go around. I did it in half-time -- just saying ;) (totally jokes here; took 2 tries).

The senior profilers forced me to do the swim training from 4y/o -> 13. I was already there, so why not, right? Lifeguarding requires you to be >=16 I think? And by that time, I lost interest.. Mini-me is into it now, though.

It's not possible to answer your question. ~13.5mos from start to finish is what seems to be happening now. They are finalizing the end of March/beginning of April 2016 right now...

There was a massive propaganda machine at work in the 1960's. They would come to your house for "listening" parties (listening to a record). You would "learn" about how BAAAAD socialism is. It's a commie Soviet thing. And the Soviets are BAAAD. So, immediately, when you talk about socializing something, they get worked up. We've even been referred to, in the same vein, as "communists" because we have socialized medicine..

Until they learn different, they will continue this way, unfortunately. That propaganda was pretty strong...

Actually, HRC did a tour of nations years ago. She wanted to understand how other nations did socialized medicine. She wanted to bring it back to the USA. The people, however, refused to accept the idea that they would be paying to help someone else who needed help. It's their money, and they thought they should only spend it on themselves.

Yes Hilary tried too. They just can't get it in into their thick skulls. They go all over the world "saving" countries yet they can't give their own access to health care.

well, for a while there, their creative mathing could have paid for 3 walls, and free access to health care....

Then they realized -2 + 2 != 4. In other words: 2 trillion minus 2 trillion is 0 trillion; not 4 trillion.

I see, will give it a try when I have little more sweet time to myself :)

I see, guessing you are a post doc right now?
No I refused to do post doc(s), I had nice offers, but I declined them. I like my life here and I didn't want to end up mid 30s with no job stability, no retirement plan,... I still do research though but as a "professional".
