Thanks Profiler. What's the difference between AOR and AIP?

AOR - acknowledgement of Receipt. They have enough to start processing.
AIP - the PA (Principal Applicant) is eligible to apply for PR under the class they have applied.

You would have a letter stating you are eligible to apply and have approval in principle.

This is what I received in February from CIC...that's what you are referring to with AIP, no?

----------------
This refers to the Application for Permanent Residence you made under the Spouse or
Common-Law Partner in Canada Class.
It has been determined that you meet the eligibility requirements to apply for permanent
residence as a member of the spouse or common-law partner in Canada class. Please note that
a final decision will not be made until all remaining requirements for becoming a permanent
resident have been met. These requirements include medical, security and background checks
for you and, if applicable, all of your family members, both in Canada and abroad, even if they
are not applying to join you in Canada at this time. You cannot become a permanent resident
until you and all your family members have met these requirements.

Totally variable. We took a week from SA to AIP. Then we were delayed because of a redo medical. Some are going from AOR -> DM in minutes to hours. Some are taking months.

So, hard to say. If security isn't done yet, they can't move until it's done.

How can I know if security check has done or not?

There is only 2 sure-fire ways to know: GCMS notes or DM.

You can ask an MP to find our what your app status is... but some MPs are more helpful than others...

Awesome. Do you know if there is another step between AIP and DM? Or is the next piece just the Security check clearance and then DM?

They assess results of the checks, medical, Criminality, and security, and the case holistically, then decide.

Medical and Security must be valid still when the PA lands.

Sorry, what is MP?

As I have already done the medical Test, I saw it added "medical test received", and that's it. It is still saying "application received", nothing has changed.

Ours was like that until 9:29am on Wednesday. 9:30 it was decision made. Nothing in between.. I'd try to hold out for a bit... you might land very soon!

MP is Member of Parliament..

You meant after "medical test received" or.. , then you got Decision made on the coming Wednesday?

I found the changing of it yesterday afternoon.

It doesn't say I passed the test.

Thanks Profiler!

That'll mean you passed it. If it was only yesterday, for us it was about 8 days from the medical submission to DM.
