I have received the OWP and it says Permit - WP-EXT. What does this means? It is valid for 2 yrs.

That's your open work permit. Based on this forum the validity of that is 2 years.

How many days from the CIC received it and today you have it? processing time. Thank you.

WP-EXT...educated guess? means Work Permit - Extention.

You may have had a work permit prior to applying for PR, and had implied status (without knowing it) and could have continued working while being processed, or you have a permit/had a permit that has just expired?

You stated it was approved on the 18th, and you have it on the 19th, candidly if I had it that fast I wouldn't care what it said...congrats on becoming a real person in Canada!

Pedropil: My application processing started on May 13th and I got it approved on Aug 18th.I havent received the hard copy yet but I have received a pdf online copy of the work permit which I can use until my paper copy arrives.

I apologize, I assumed you had the hard copy....nice to see they send out PDF copies, to enable us to apply for work etc.

may the 13th...20 days away from me..better get my work boots polished.

I've got the opposite problem...I have the job sitting waiting, just need the permit so a post can be assigned to me before all the current positions are filled..soon as I have it in my sweaty fingers be starting work within days. My wife and me both work in the same industry (it's how we met, worked for the same firm) and she is a manager now with her current very large company, the area director knows of me (after she asked him to review my CV and give feedback before I started applying for jobs) and has green-lighted me...nepotism <cough>.

This proves that CIC is messing with us. They are taking packages out of order and processing some faster than others....

no sign of the bloody thing! but Kjagg.. mentioned 'started processing 13th may. does that mean when the PR/OWP was recieved or when the status changed on my cic? i still cant link the PR and OWP together. I can go on them seperate - on mycic i can see my OWP and is just says

I must admit, as far as I know (and trust me I'm watching the announcements of when people get OWP on here) they had just reached the end of April 2016 last week, so when a 13 may announced..I was like...WTF? dumb question to the poster...you sure you are not 3rd May? You have nothing posted for your timeline so I have to ask...

Ecas said ours was started processing may 23. In myCIC we are in background checks.
