I also believe, as the CIC guidelines state, that any certificate issued AFTER you left the country is valid. However at the same time the letter above, is from the people directly involved in deciding my fate. As I stated in my original post, I'm taking the action I described on my own judgement, it is more than possible as the above letters are not widespread (only 2 I have read about have received these) it is possible it's one VO living in the past, or asked to deal with cases who does not normally, or hasn't for years, but asked to do so for streamlining. But who is using rules from a year ago etc.

I realize by posting the above I may have put some people into panic mode, but I would have felt irresponsible if I had read of the above letter, quietly submitted for my PCC, and said nothing.

Ironically, if someone was refused on the grounds described, I personally believe, as a layman, this would be grounds to appeal to the federal court, as IRCC are stating one thing then doing the total opposite. I would just rather avoid this situation altogether.
It's not a terrible process to go through to get another PCC anyway for most. Think of it this way: you invested nearly $1250 (if you filed the paperwork yourself, and paid the RPRF). You should protect that investment by getting another PCC. This was our rationale to getting another one ordered. I did provide a heads up to IRCC that it will take time, and that we might be a little later than 60 days, but that it has been ordered and will be forwarded as soon as it's available.

Profiler, I totally agree, for me, the process is painless, unlike some.

I'm UK, and candidly luckier than most...I can apply for a new PCC online, and submit the required proof documents online, my PCC application will be with them for processing on Monday morning based on this (owing to time difference by the time I complete the application today it would be beyond office hours in the UK). Just taking basic processing it will be completed in 10 working days, and standard airmail postage is included, if you pay 14 dollars more it comes tracked and signed slightly faster (20-25 days rather than 30). Indeed if you need it PDQ, and are willing to pay the premiums you can have it, applying today in your hands in Canada in a week..although for this service you would be shelling out 200 dollars plus.

I am surprised they cannot just query your criminality through the High Commission? I thought somehow the Commonwealth was like a "best friends club" ..

I`ll see how it goes. If they ask, I`ll do my best or at least contact them to make a reasonable explanation why I can`t get one. Thanks for all the insight guys.
I'm with you cenker. At the end of the day it is a person looking at this application and people are reasonable. I think you are fine. I also am not planning on flying to China to talk to a local police department about a document which I already have. From what I can tell, IRCC already accepted my explanation+PCC anyway.

I so wish they could...or better yet, go back to the old old rules...my UK passport would be as good as a Canadian one, regarding working and living here. But these damn colonials do keep demanding this irritating thing called independence, and changing the goal posts. :p

When my father was a young merchant seaman, he used to take Brits to Australia emigrating, at that time the former colonies desperately needed new blood..their fare for a family (often for 2 adults and as much as 10 or so kids...no decent TV then..people had to do something to keep from getting bored) was 10 pounds...subsidized by the Australian Government. He also brought boatloads up the St. Lawrence River, he told me the tale recently of coming off the boat in Canada, and while doing what Scottish merchant seamen do (look for the bar) was offered a very good job and future on the spot if he would stay...he refused, loving his life as it was then.

If he had taken it, then I would not have my problems.. :D

Ahh, the things that make Canada awesome -- pissing the other side of the pond off :). And it seems to be really easy to do sometimes :). You know, the Queen does like to summer here ;).

Are you like 100 years old or something? ;)

Joking aside, I am actually wondering now why the Commonwealth cannot execute information requests like IRCC can through the RCMP...

the funniest thing in my book is...If I finally get Citizenship, i need to swear an oath of loyalty to "my" (UK) queen!

The "10 pound poms" still traveled out into the late 50's early 60's.

So, does that make you a liar? I mean, you did leave the UK for another country..... albeit probably the Queen's favourite (which if you google her, you will find that she proclaimed that -- sorry Aus!)

And as I'm Scottish I do not even recognize them as my royal family...I have had to toast the queen at formal functions, and you will still spot Scotsmen at the toast passing the toasting drink over their drinking water..(it signifies you are toasting the king "over the water" as our last true royal had to flee). Stone of Scone be damned!

Hang on, I have a sudden urge to stick on my kilt and paint my face blue and wiggle my ass at passing traffic ;D

Wow. I thought this was a family show!

I have almost never heard of indecent exposure. Usually they will just ask you to put it away and leave the area ;)
