Reports are that they apparently are screening american-canadian couples a little more closely because Trumpocalypse. That's the report anyway, and if I recall, the reason was a spike in fraud.

If I recall correctly, it was @kokopelli that mentioned her rep stated it..
I heard about it also, but the increased screening is to assess if the relationship is genuine. I still like to think that security checks are easily done with US citizens.

Usually. The assessment would be either at stage 1 (eligibility) or QA.

WRT security, it's pretty simple. They have a direct line to CIA/NSA, like they have to CSIS/CSE in the States. So those can be completed fast.

QA is quality assurance. They used to spend time assessing each file for quality. Now they have decided they don't need to do that. They just spot check files after AIP.
Then one less thing to worry about... Thank You kind Sir !

Nope. Check bp, histen to your chest, vision test, hearing test, get a quick family and personal history, blood work and chest x-ray. The most time we spent was waiting for blood or to see dr Scott
The lady who answered the phone and made my Appt said approx. 1 to 1and a half hours total,, I figure lots of that is just waiting lol.. Oh is there a Tim Hortons close to there we want to come early so we get there on time Monday, so we figured we could go for a coffee while waiting to go to the office .. its a 2 hour drive for us...

We can't tell you for certain, but I am pretty good at guessing. The fact that you're in the time range that they are working in, and they've asked for a medical, I would suggest watching ECAS for a DM on the sponsorship side (this will result in SA).

Medicals are generally not requested until a case is expected to reach stage 2. (admissibility).
Thanks, this is what I thought, but just wanted to hear it reinforced back from someone. When I did request her notes last month to see what was going on, I did see an annotation of "Application identified for streamlined eligibility processing and is part of the 2016 inventory reduction exercise ...:" not sure if application processing for 2nd half of 2016 is speeding up due to the new 12 month processing.

Also quick question, my employer when I submitted sponsor application is not my current employer. Infact, I was going with job-offer-1 when I was doing the sponsor application, but something didn't work out and I went with job-offer-2. In the field of work I am in, its common, and there are easy wants to confirm I work and live in Canada, but when I called CIC, they said nothing needs to be done for updating anything. Can this be a problem?

Once we have SA/AIP, is it safe to travel with existing OWP / TRV? What happens with DM & landing .. do we get a paper in mail and have to show up somewhere? Or can we leave country and re-enter?

I am not impatient, but at some point wife's work is going to demand she show up in office for a meeting :) I just want to be prepared for that day.

Hello,
I am December 2015 applicant, my application was transferred to Etobicoke Office back there on May 15th. We tried to get back to our MP but they are not responding to either our calls or emails, however, the lady on behalf of MP assured us that she will get back to us within the week. There is no changes on my CIC or ECAS since 2015. SA was approved in Jan 2017, Medical done in Jan 2017 too. However, the CIC is asking for my dependent kids (from my ex husband) Medical examination which i am unable to provide in the meantime unless I visit my home country which i cannot as I lost my status in canada as well as I need a visa for reentry. my question how long it is going to take more for DM, as I feel to give up and cancel my application. It's been three years I am away from my kids. The stress that we are carrying is immense and if they are planning to refuse the Visa then what is the use of wasting more time???????:(

Regarding your question about your job, don't worry. No update needed. For CIC, as long as you are not on welfare, they won't care.

Once you have SA and AIP, it will likely go relatively fast with DM and landing. As you applied inland, you will be called (email) for a landing interview (not a test, very few and very simple questions) at your local CIC office. It's not recommended to leave the country until the landing, there is always a risk of being denied re-entry. Having said that, we did travel out of the country (without realizing the risk actually) during the process and several others did as well.

Etobicoke is a very busy office which makes it slow to give appointment. It's common to have to wait 7-8 weeks. You are in that time window, so I presume you will hear soon from them.

Regarding the medical exam of your kids, you have to prove you did reasonable efforts to have them examined. If your ex husband refused and you have it in a written form, send that to CIC. They might wave the medical exam for them (it's at the discretion of CIC), however you will never be allowed to sponsor them to come to Canada if they are not examined now.

Not sure what the interview will be about. You will have a better idea when you will receive the appointment and the list of document to bring.
