How long did the entire process take for you from start to finish?
Applied: May 2009
Letter Request for Docs from CPC-M: March 2012
Docs sent to CPC-M: May 2012
Application package sent back by CPC-M (due to 1 missing signature): July 2012 [they did stamp package with may 2012 stamp though]
Application package re-sent back to CPC-M with corrected signature: July 2012
AOR from CPC-M says, docs received and application complete and in queue for decision: August 2012

Note: eventhough the package came back, they did still keep our AOR date as May 2012 rather than July 2012...nice of them....
(I had taken great care to organize the application in every way possible.)

Sponsorship approval and file transfer to Visa office: January 2013
Visa office: Paris
AOR from visa office: March 2013
Request for Information from visa office: April/May 2013 (sent immediately by email)
Medical request: June 2013.........medicals completed in same month.
PPR: August 2013.

Note: We did have dependents under 18 when applied, and just over 22 at time of visa issuance.
We submitted univ enrollment letters and transcripts for them [once].
Landed: September 2013

All communication was by email to/from Visa office.

Finally sent my application in today - sent from vancouver, will reach mississauga by tomorrow. Hopefully it makes the cut.

Does anyone know if CIC will send a tweet out if the 5000 cap is reached?

They will eventually say something... but it could be many months before they finally sort through and find 5000 complete applications that will then go on to further processing.

Would be nice if they would say something informal when they've received 10,000 applications mailed or something, but i'm not sure if they do this.

Applications accepted as completed: XXXX (this would be the cap counter)

Applications rejected / incomplete: XXXXX

@ Rob-To,

Initial scrutiny for ascertaining whether an application is complete should not be a big issue. All that they require is to see if the sponsor has submitted all the forms nd supporting docs. as per the check list IMM 5771. It should not take more than ten minutes for a person who has experience to handle such assignments.
Assuming that the applications are meticulously recorded on FIFO basis, their completion can be started in the same order simultaneously. Therefore, completed applications forming CAP may be arrived at,pending their qualitative check for determining Sponsor's eligibility. However,if CAP CONSTITUTES ONLY those applications which have undergone qualitative check(covering all elements which we are discussing in the forum) ,it may take CIS even longer to upload the information, as we are contemplating .

Thanx for ur inputs. Please keep sharing.

Good luck.God bless all !!!

Rob_TO is likely basing his assumptions on what we've actually seen/experienced from the Federal Skilled Worker program over the last few years and their reporting on the number of applications received towards a cap. These report and the information posted on the CIC web site has consistently lagged by about two months. Since CIC is conducting completeness checks for the parent/grandparent applications just as they are / have done for FSW - I don't think it would be at all surprising if we see the same lag here.

Yes - for two out of the three streams (eligible occupations / no job offer - and also PhD). Has been for a few years now. Here's the count for eligible occupations that's a couple of months behind.

Thanks for the info. I am not at all familiar with the FSW program at all. Just didn't realized that it had a cap. Thought the new PGP was the only one with the cap.

Logically yes. However this is the government after all, so expect that a 10 minute task will take more like 30 minutes after all (in)efficiencies are considered. Also of course it completely depends how many employees CIC has dedicated to sorting through these apps.

Ontario PNP stream for PhD and Master's students has a cap too. Other PNP programs may as well. PGP is not the only one - and certainly not the first.

I remember someone mentioning about caps on IEC as well. Is this correct too?

Hi Guys,

Great news here regarding my parents sponsorship case that I filed in 2009, Islamabad has sent the attached PHEP letter asking to submit passports with a note saying "your immigrant visa appears ready for issuance"
Is there a way we can send them the passports without my parents having to visit Pakistan (parents are in Canada on supervisa)? or can we ask someone going to Pakistan to take the passports and courier it to CHC Islamabad and then send it back to us when the visas are stamped?

Because they are saying in the letter "our office cannot send passports overseas, you must provide an address in Pakistan to where a courier company can deliver" also they are saying "Do not send passports through international courier if you are not currently in Pakistan"

thanks a lot again
