Sponsoring Parents in 2015

Application was just transferred to Mexico LVO, and would lie to know timeline from there.

Guys...so my mom's passport is now out for delivery this morning....we sent the passport to Ottawa on Feb 6 and to be received today Feb 16....

We are planning to flagpole in Carway border crossing in Alberta tomorrow...can you please share your experience or any tips in flagpoling? By the way, my mom has a US visa.

Nothing yet All I've seen for Mexico is for Spouse sponsorship, not PGP

Good news. We were notified on Thursday 16 February that our passports are ready for collection from the VFS office in Kuala Lumpur. We collected it yesterday (17 Feb). We had handed the passports in on 7 february to VFS, KL. So it took 10 days for processing and dispatch in Singapore.

My spouse who is the principal applicant and I plan to land in Pearson in early May. I think we are the last applicant in the 2015 batch that was being processed in Singapore VO to get the PR visa.

Thanks for sharing all the information and a special thanks to Rossei for being very generous with his time and energy.

There should be a date mentioned on issued visa, you are looking for visa validity date.

May would be the best time to land. You're coming in Spring, followed by Summer and then Fall. I wish both of you have a wonderful life in Canada.

My Parents just get the PR under family sponsorship and wandering what benefit we can apply for them like I can apply for their Health card and License as I sign sponser agreement and don't want to violate any of their rules and it's not clear in agreement we sign for 20 years.
So can you please provide the list of benefit we can apply without violating this agreement.

The list of benefits? There is none for sponsored parents.

One has to be over 65 years old and live in Canada for at least 10 years to be eligible for OAS (Old Age Security) and/or OAS-GIS (Guaranteed Income Supplement). If your parents get pensions from home country and Canada has a treaty for exchanging pension benefits with such country; your parents may apply to get it here. However, since the sponsor is financially responsible for his/her sponsored parents; they may may not be eligible for OAS or OAS-GIS for 20 years.
