agree with you, can they explain to us how these backlogs got started? As a citizen, do we have the right to know all these details?

Very simple to explain. Before the cap of 5000 any number of people could apply. However there was a limit to the number of visa issued to parents.
Lets say the visa limit was 20000 each year. In year one 30000 people apply. 10000 backlog, then say another 30000 apply next year now at end of year 2 backlog is 20000. In year 3 even more people apply say 40000, now backlog will be 40000 after visa quota filled and so on until in 2011 when there was a backlog of over 160000. Each year only about 20000 visa were being issued yet more and more people were still applying so the wait time was getting even longer.

How you appeal? We had sent out our 1st application on November 3, 2011 by Canada Post Express, which was guaranteed 2 days delivery then, but arrived cic after November 05 when Kenny announced closure of PDP program, and returned us back. We tried last year, and Purolar lost our application and we ended up having sent 3 times to try to get in again, but no luck then. We finally got in this year by Fedex and cc just got charged today. Where should we appeal our case? Just hope everthing after will get better.

There is nothing for you to appeal. You cannot appeal an error by your courier.

My application was delivered on Jan 2 at 9:41 by Fedex. I just saw CIC charged $550 on my credit card. I had a lot of stress. It's now gone. Good luck to everyone.

But frankly, as a Canadian citizen, I'm sorry Canada puts people through such a stress to have their loved ones living with them. If we welcome new immigrants for their skills, investments, talents, etc, we should respect their family ties. We can't just tell them to come but leave their loved ones, those who really need our care, behind. 5000 applications per year is ridiculous. Why can't they hire more agents to process the backlog?

It's politics. The government is looking for a balance. They can't completely cut people out, but they can't let everybody in either. They set a cap each year with certain backlog to reach a threshold that maximizes new immigrant's benefit but also protects civilian's domestic interest. I'm applying for my parents so I certainly agree on your points, but the majority of Canadians who were born and raised here have no need to sponsor their parents, so they're not interested in spending tax money on this program. Understandable.

It will take a minimum of three years - likely longer.

From the list it was appearing fedex give good service compare with purolator this time. Try to take backup of file on daily basis.

Well, I've locked it now. Only the 'New Entry' sheet is open for users to enter new info or update existing info. I will try to add them to 'Timeline' twice a day so there aren't many "backlogs"

i wonder what was the REAL time of delivery for Purolator 8:45am??? i hate to be depending on couriers who fake delivery stamp and charge the highest rate for "guaranteed 9AM" delivery, and fail to provide the service. Purolator is owned by Canada Post. seems like the only difference is that Purolator has learnt how to fake delivery statuses.

Since Purolator is pretty owned by Canada post (91%), another reason to avoid purolator. That leaves me with UPS or DHL.

No single application recieved by Purolator at 8:45am on Jan.2nd has been charged! This is so frustrating... I am afraid the actual delivery time is on the next day !!

Won't be next day. But according to multiple sources, the 8:45am delivery was more likely after 12:30pm.
