Hi. Is it possible to sponsor spouse who lost permanent resident status due to residency requirement? How long does the process take ?

Yes, you may re-sponsor a spouse who has lost PR due to non-compliance with the residency requirement.

It takes the same time as sponsoring the first time, such applications are not given any priority because they were once PRs. Furthermore, your spouse must now show why they should be given PR again when they failed to retain it before.

If I have seen one case judge say it in a Residency Obligation appeal, I have seen them all say it: The residency requirements are not onerous, and there is flexibility built in to allow PRs to fulfill these obligations.

It was mainly due to economic reasons as my husband is working for an American mnc and is holding quite a senior position. Unfortunately, he was unable to secure an internal transfer to Canada. He is still trying to get an internal transfer at the moment since it is the beat way to overcome the ",anadian experience" dilemma.

Will this actually work against him when I sponsor him?

No, in your case. Just explain the situation in the application.
