Hi guys

I had a quick question. I recently moved to Canada as a Permanent Resident from the US (Sept 2018) which means I don't have 3 years worth of filed Taxes to show. Are they mandatory or can I present documentation to show that my current income meets the Minimum Necessary Income levels? Would it help to show my Taxes filed in the US for the last few years. Any information would be helpful. I know that PGPS 2019 hasn't opened up yet, but i was hoping to gather as much documentation possible just to be prepared.

Thanks!!

Hi,

I believe you can't use international income/tax declaration as a proof of income for the past 3 years. If I remember well from last year application it has to be an income earned inside Canada or after becoming a resident.

Yes - they are mandatory. Only income from Canada counts. You cannot use your US income or US tax returns. You will have to wait a few more years before you will qualify to sponsor your parents for PR.

Is the form for interest to sponsor PGP 2019 online yet. I though I saw something that said it was now live, but I can't find the form. Thanks.

HI, EVERYONE!
happy new year! it is the time that get ready to apply for parents immigration. does anyone know what day starts to apply online?

PGP 2019 Interest to Sponsor - I have read on the Cohen lawyer's website that it is advisable to collect all necessary documents together even before you know that you are successful in being invited to fill in an application form . Is this viable and would we have to involve a lawyer and pay him/her even though we don't know if we will be using their services. I thought successful invitees had 90 days to get everything together, Cohen's are saying it's only 60 days.

You can use international income as a proof of income for the past 3 years. The catch is that you were a Canadian tax payer for those tax years. Your memory was wrong. It can be income earned outside Canada.
