I try and help people on here in the meantime but I keep getting "minuses" so that just discourages me from posting here at all.

I once stressed about my minuses, take a look at how many I have, last I looked it was 19, it maybe more by now. ;D

I've been in Canada, visiting, since November. Now it's just a matter of obsessively checking the mail for my COPR. As soon as that arrives, Husband and I will road trip down to the border. I might try calling whatever office it is here in Calgary and see what landing appointment times are like and doing that instead of flagpoling, but if they're anything longer than a week, we'll just drive to Montana.

Sorry people have been "minus-ing" you. Rating systems like the one here aren't flawless. I think, ultimately, they're a good indicator of the quality advice you'll get, but sometimes I'll see the most unhelpful, mean spirited posts by people with 400 billion "pluses".

Don't worry about overthinking things. It's natural. With all the stories of people's stuff getting lost, and all the bizarre obstacles people run into, it's easy to imagine the worst. I sometimes feel weird trying to reassure anyone, because we all know how stressful this process can be. But like I said, if anything, you're application status is "normal", seeing as how most of September is still only at Application/Medical Received. Odds are pretty good that its just a matter of time for you now.
Are you on a visitor extension?
I wish I could flagpole, since I'm visiting in Canada as well. It sounds so fun, a little road trip. And we're pretty close to Vermont/NY borders being near Montreal. ^_^

You're right. That's one thing I worry over is people looking at my ratings and thinking I'm giving bad advice. I make sure I only say stuff I know to be true and then let more experienced members jump in.

You're right. It's like being closer to the end of the process is making me more anxious.. haha

We're so glad to be done with May! It didn't treat us well in any aspect of our lives; job loss, health problems, CIC... lol I am glad to move on to June!

thanks. I'm probably overthinking it too much. I try and help people on here in the meantime but I keep getting "minuses" so that just discourages me from posting here at all. So thanks for the positive post. I appreciated it :)
And congrats again on your DM! When do you plan on landing?
Yeah patience is not a virtue I have much of ;)

I like to think of -1s as honesty badges. Seriously, I think people just give them when you tell them what they don't want to hear;)

They are a badge of honour! Hahaha. Even Ponga has something like -200 and they give the best advice ever.

Leon and Scylla have a ton of minuses and they are both well-respected members.
I got a minus for telling someone to stop spamming the forum. They responded back: Why would you say that? I never spam. So I posted the 15 posts they had made in the past 30 minutes, across all different boards. Both my post and theirs were deleted, but the -1 stayed. Oh well.

The number of days left is now down to a tiny amount, so I'm excited. My wife is nervous about flying by herself, but I'm optimistic that we'll be okay.

I got super lucky and was issued a Visitor Record that allowed me to stay longer than 6 months. When I arrived at YYC, the immigration agent (after the CBSA referred me to immigration because I wouldn't/couldn't give them a return date) questioned me for about 45 minutes. At one point I was a good 75% certain I was going to be denied entry, despite having documentation of SA in hand. Finally, after nearly an hour of interrogation, the agent seemed satisfied I wasn't lying and issued me a Visitor Record for 1 full year. So yeah, super cool. Had this process drug out farther (which, who know, it still could), I wouldn't need to worry about extending my visitor status until late November.

thanks for the clear up! And congrats again!

It's almost disheartening seeing so many people around my date and even way after it get DM. Do you guys think the doc request really set us back? I'm kicking myself now bc I assumed Ottawa would have asked for the CSQ sooner if they needed it.

Leah - I don't think it set you back. I only say that because I was excepting them to look at my profile again after the 45 days they gave me and I got an email back from Ottawa on May 27th (21 days after the first request). So it seems like they do look at the app. I do have our MP involved but they haven't called us back so who knows if they are even doing anything.

I feel just as discouraged as you trust me. I hope we hear something soon. I sent in my last requested proof. (everything they lost lol). We shall see what happens.
