i applied for my BOWP, on the letter of explanatory, i uploaded my letter of employment, AOR, and document checklist, i didn't put a letter explaining that i am applying for BOWP and my work permit will be expiring on march 29 2016, do i have to contact cic to let them know about the letter because i have already paid the fee and submitted my application. i dont want to get denied for BOWP when and my work permit expires

So far Letter of Explanation isn't mandatory but I prefer CIC officer clearly understand what I'm applying for and why, avoiding time delays or rejection.

Thethe can check when your WP expires but probably is better if you add a copy.

If you prepare a letter include WP, AOR and any other possible document to support it.

Yes, better send it, you can try using:https://secure.cic.gc.ca/enquiries-renseignements/canada-case-cas-eng.aspx

Option "Temporary Residence (applied online or email). Work Permit"

Anyways you can call CIC to ask about it

Hello fellow Sep Applicants. I am a Sep 11, 2014 applicant. I just got off the phone after speaking to a CIC agent. I have been told that I might need to wait up until Aug 04th 2016 to hear anything from CIC. This wait is depressing to say the least. Just thought I should share this with you guys.

don't let them scare you , they just hope you stop calling them. just wait ,good news should be in next 2-3 weeks. CIC obviously already aware there are huge backlog from the RPRF events.

Hey Pearl1

So for the applicant from August they are giving date of 4th-July and for September 4th- August. IMO they are just giving you a absurd date according to their SOP and these dates doesn't mean anything. So you need not worry, they are just doing their job and saying what their manual is asking them to say.

If you go by their dates, than the applicants who are getting updates on their files from August do not support their statements.

Maybe that's case specific....There's no way no August/September applicants will be getting PPR or COPR in the next 6 months, when June/July are getting them now. Maybe they are saying July 4th will be the latest you will hear something or the latest you application will be complete

Thanks yixiaop26. I am keeping my fingers crossed for all of us.

yeah, i am trying to stay as positive as possible after hearing agent's comments and looking at the progress for august applicants :)

are you an august applicant ? can you try calling the call center, this is just to make sure that it is not case specific ?

lol,,, yeah

hopefully they speak to you, because as soon as they get to know the date they will say you are under current processing times and we cannot say anything about it. call us when 17 or whatever months are over.

The only reasons why they are saying July 4th is because they are going to change the processing times to 21 months. That does not mean it will take that long though. If your application is straight forward and they have all of your info I am sure yours will be processed sooner.

It is rather surprising that EE applicants are getting their applications processed within 6 months. Its a pity that old CEC applicants are getting this treatment. If anything we have lived and worked in Canada and paid taxes. Oh well! I hope that the wait days are over for all of us.

Hi guys, but new MR is also ongoing, so relax , this time.

Hi guys,

I'm a CEC September 2014 applicant and I applied for my work permit renewal on July 2015. At that time I didn't know I should apply for BOWP and I just applied for a regular work permit extension online. I have not heard from CIC since July and it's been 6.5 month while I'm still waiting for both MR and work permit ??? ??? ???. Anyone has any idea what this long delay is for??!! I filled a request for information act and have not received any update yet :( :( :(

Since I don't have my new work permit, I have no OHIP for more than three months and it's really unsafe. Anyone has any ideas if I can apply for OHIP given this circumstances?

Thanks!
