I am in a Job Fair in Paris now on the Canada Immigration and the moderator just spoke about the new changes to the system. As Kryt0n pointed out, everyone who has ITA before 19th November will not be affected by the new modalities. So i'm sorry if there's no draw tomorrow, your points will reduce!!!

Ask about the expectations of the cut off score in 2016/2017!!!!!!

He declined every question on the draws. The fair is just to tell us what we already know and there are a number of canadian employers here too meeting candidates and who knows.....maybe a job opportunity!!!

1. No, as a single applicant without any Canada connection you can get more that that - up to 518 (110 for age, 100 for full transferability, 150 for PhD, 134 for first language, 24 for second language).
2. Yes, they had decreased LMIA, but at the same time, there is now larger group of people who will recieve bonus 50 points for their arranged employment without need of LMIA.
To put is simple - take around 50% applicants from range 400-450 and put them in the range 450-490 and you will see the result for cut off.

Please i need clarification, are you saying with the new rules job offer does not require LMIA and still i can get 50pts as international foreign worker.

You will only get 50 points if you've been working in Canada continuously for over a year with the employer mentioned on your work permit (NAFTA, ICT etc.). If you're not in Canada, you'll need LMIA to get the 50 points for your job offer.

Here you go. 15-20 minutes into the seminar - the good part.

Just putting a silly point on the table. Grin

There should be a draw tomorrow, checking all the draw dates, it comes out that they release it on a Wednesday.
In exceptional cases, they have released it on a Friday only.

New changes kick in on a Saturday, and it's been couple of weeks since last draw and few points which incline towards the possibility of a draw tomorrow are:
-CIC has been trying to pump up the number of approved candidates to meet the demand.
- new changes will kick in and IT systems in the backend might need validation before issuing ITA, this consuming some time and possible delays in the next draw to be announced.
-the official announcement from CiC regarding the change came on 14th, so they wouldn't expect canadian organisations have already spent $1000 for each candidate to go in vain. (I know it's a bit illogical).

But it's a never ending debate, yet we can't help ours hearts throbbing and expectations rising.
Let's wait till tomorrow morning to get the confusion clear.

Did you work for a company outside of Canada and they transfered you to their Canadian branch? What does your visa say?
