I have had some trips (as tourist) when I was a teenager some 20 years ago to several countries in Europe. I have no records of those trips now. Are tourist trips required to be added in question 13. If yes, what should I do if I have no record and I don’t even remember in which months/years I made those trips?

It (Q13) is not about the trips you took, but about the visas, PRs and citizenships (or any other status) you held/hold.

Yes, during those trips I had tourist visas (visitor visas). So I assume the question applies to my situation. The problem is that those visas were stamped on old passports that I no longer have.

Okay, so you had certain visas but don't have any details about them now. See whether you can retrieve that information someway or other, like you might have had some scanned copies or have it on your emails,etc... Problem is, if one fails to report it and IRCC comes to know about it later, it could be considered a misrepresentation. But I am not sure about that. I am Not sure writing an explanation letter would help.

Maybe someone else in the forum have more info on how to handle this situation.

IRCC probably does not care about these tourist visas from childhood. However, it is best to disclose them in an LOE to be safe. List the trips for which you had the visitor visas and the dates the best you can remember, and write in the LOE that you no longer have the old passports with those visas and do not remember the exact dates.

the question is about residency and status not tourist visas even recent ones.

the question is about residency and status not tourist visas even recent ones.
The wording of the question is not great, but the instructions, as well as the presence of dropdown options for visitor visas, for question 13 suggest that they do care about tourist visas:
https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/application/application-forms-guides/guide-0002-application-canadian-citizenship-under-subsection-5-1-adults-18-years-older.html#Step4
  • Tell us which countries you have held status in, and exactly what status you held or currently hold (student, employment/worker, visitor, refugee/protected person, permanent resident or citizen).
(note that "visitor" was not listed in these instructions when I applied last year - I had saved a copy - so the fact that they have since added it strongly suggests that IRCC does want us to include visitor visas)

Additionally, see this tweet from IRCC:
1/2 Hi. Please include information about immigration or citizenship status in any country other than Canada in question 13 - this includes temporary statuses: visitor/tourist, student, employment/worker. From the information you have provided,
2/2 you would need to include your time as a visitor in question 13. Hope this helps.

This made me very concerned, I submitted family paper app on Oct 4, and waiting for AOR (expecting coming week), I only listed my citizenship status of home country, besides we lived for great length of time abroad as student, worker, PR and even visitor (europe). Urgh, unintentionally forgot to add details, perhaps was strapped around family application and all docs.

What should be the appropriate way to fix this?

Should I wait for AOR? Would they return our application or ask details? Or rather I provide details of each status in LOE thru webform right away?

IRCC has updated this page: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/application/application-forms-guides/guide-0002-application-canadian-citizenship-under-subsection-5-1-adults-18-years-older.html#Step4

Question 13: Tell us if you have had immigration, permanent resident status and/or citizenship in any other country outside of Canada (e.g. your country of birth)
  • Check either yes or no.
  • If you check yes, complete the chart.
  • Tell us which countries you have held status in, and exactly what status you held or currently hold (student, employment/worker, visitor, refugee/protected person, permanent resident or citizen).
  • Date you obtained each status(YYYY-MM-DD)
  • End date if no longer valid, if applicable (YYYY-MM-DD). Leave blank if you currently hold this status

Wait for AoR.
After you received AoR send a LoE via webform, providing the clarification on the Q13 for each applicant
