Ugh....the 59 days that CIC says is the time for a first PR card may end up being longer I'm thinking because of the strike. Hope it gets sorted ASAP.

Only for those who would be expecting to receive it next week.

Should not affect the processing of them - just the delivery time of those already being sent out.

Hi Timothy,

I suggest that you can call CIC to find out although 43 days is just average. Mine took over 90 days to get the sponsorship approval email but the reason could have been because of the additional documents they had requested from us.

Is the PR card delivered by Canada Post?

I'm just worried as it looks like Canada Post might be going on strike.
Who really cares? Even if Canada Post goes on strike for an insane 4 months (Postal strikes never really go over 40 days) it's still just a drop in the bucket compared to how long CIC is making some people wait for PR cards.

I'll probably never get my PR card anyway.

You are right...you probably won't. At least not with this attitude. I know how frustrating it can be, but there has to be something you can do about it.
What have you done so far?

If you think there is something I can do about it you must not be someone who has applied for sponsorship.

Ask anyone who landed between October 1, 2015 and January 3, 2016. Whom have been waiting an extra 200 days for their PR cards so far.
Ask anyone who applied for sponsorship in March 2014, who had their applications processed 6 months later than those who submitted before/after them.

After you wait 250 days for a PR card you can start worrying about a 40 day "blip" in delivery services.

I suspect that you received your PRC months ago, but just can't bear the thought of never needing this forum anymore. :D

I've often suspected the same of myself, that I'm secretly insane and can't live without a reason to hate CIC.

Not that any breathing person doesn't have a legitimate reason to hate them anyway.

My question was what have you done about it so far?
What has your MP done?
What exactly is CIC saying?
For starters I've contacted CIC every 30 days since going beyond the normal processing time.
That means I've called about 7 different days.

They say a lot of different things.
They say that we were negligent and sent the wrong photos (which we didn't, we sent the correct photos).
They say that a machine broke and therefore can't accept the old photos any more.
They say that security requirements changed, requiring a new photo size, effective retroactively.
They say that once new photos are sent in you are outside of normal processing, and they get to it when they get to it.
They say that since we didn't send the photos in with a tracking service there's no way to know if they got the photos or not.
They say that since we didn't receive two requests that they probably did receive our photos, as of whenever they probably should have requested new ones.

I've sent in an urgent processing request, this is apparently the only way to contact the useless office that does the PR cards.

MP will take another token 40 days to allow CIC to get back to them.
