Hey guys,

I made some progress in getting the police report from Mexico.. I moved one inch in a mile long way.

I never heard of this one, Mexican Consulate asked me to bring Oval Pictures of the applicant, well, oval is still easy, I am happy they didn't asked me for triangular or Pentagon shape, what would I do then?

Still trying to make a NEW birth certificate to move forward, ordered one over the internet from some company which operates in Mexico, 7 days are gone no reply. Looks like they cheated me, their site says expedited service in 3 Business days well may be I read it wrong in Spanish or Google translation did a mistake in number of days, may be its 30 days instead of 3.

Hello NewYorker...

This week I tried to get a NEW birth certificate, I am in Guadalajara, I was born in Mexico city.....they told me that it takes 5 months to get my new birth certif. So when i go to get my PGR report I will have to do it at the main office, and I will get it the same day.

So you mean by mail it will take 5 months, but in person it will only take hours? Is that correct?? Amazing.. What a rule!

Hello NewYorker,

I am currently residing in Canada and applying for my PR. My application is being processed in Seattle WA.
I have a really bad experience getting this damn "Reporte de datos registrales".
After a loooong time trying to get all documents (fingerprints, letter from Mexican Consulate, photos, Cartilla militar, carta poder, etc). A family member presented all these documents in Mexico at the PGR and obtained the Datos registrales. Then this letter was translated to english and then I sent it to the Visa office in Seattle. After other 2 months, they replied that they must receive the letter from the Canadian embassy in Mexico and they won't take the one I have sent.....
This is SOOO f"é'#@#' frustating!!!
Anyways, now I am trying to contact the PGR and the Canadian Embassy in Mexico to make sure this time it'll work.

What????
Does it mean that the consulate has to send your "datos registrales" directly to CIC in Seatle? As far as I know and after a long research the Mexican Consulate only give you a support letter so you can go to PGR to request PCC. and OPGR do not mail any document to anyone!!! you pick it up yourself and that's it...

My story... I am from Colombia and I actually had to travel myself 1 week ago to Monterrey for the State PCC and to Mexico City to request the datos registrales because PGR/Consulate does not provide this via mail???
and now I have to come back to Mexico City in 10 days to pick it up because they do not mail it to you...

So if I send original documents and translations to CIC they will reject them and ask me to send them via Mexican Consulate??? This is an outrage!!!!

OMG!!! I am about to quit all this sh...t... I thought that my nightmare was almost over....

Ask me about it, I am in the same boat as you are, but I am not aware that Canadian Consulate have to send this letter, there is no instructions on how and when this rule changed. What PGR has to do with Canadian Embassy?? All I know is to get the report and certify translate into English and send it to them and that's it.

I don't know what to tell you as I am fighting against time on this Datos Sh...t also and I still don't have it in my hand. Once I will receive it, I will still send it as I said and see what happens. I do believe it has something to do with you living in Canada because it doesn't say on their web site that you should take your Datos to Canadian Embassy.... When this is going to be over....?

Please let us all know what they have asked you exactly? Do you need to take this letter or the same Police Report report to Canadian Consulate in Mexico and then they will issue a letter? What kind of letter they are asking, they already have the Police Report. Please let us know the detail of this process.

Thanks,

I think every case is very different, and maybe also the CIC Offices around the globe, I'll follow what the letter from CIC that I have in my hand and that's it, if later they ask for more, you can reply and explain all the pain to get this PGR thing and ask why they wanted now this way. This is my humble opinion.

Peace!

Well, that is exactly what I did cchabert, I followed instructions and now Im stuck with this problem.

The main problem here is that there seems to be a lot of miss-information between the Embassy, Consulates, and PGR. When I was first asked for this letter, I was asked to contact the Mexican Embassy or Consulate in Canada where I would get instructions on getting this Datos Reg... Thing is, the mexican consulate in Canada used to send all documents (fingerprints, photos, PGR letter, etc.) to the Canadian Embassy in Mexico, then they would process everything, get the Datos Reg... and send it to the office processing my PR. HOWEVER, the Mexican consulates don't do it anymore, and they only give you the PGR letter.

I have explained all this to them but, according to the instructions I received from Seattle office, I have to start the process all over again!!!, get the fingerprints, photos, etc, and send them to Canadian Embassy in Mexico, then they'll ask for the Datos Registrales thing and send to Seattle.

On Monday, I have contacted the Embassy in Mexico to make sure of what are the requirements they need, and today I received their response saying that they are looking into my case and there's a chance I wont need to send more docs.....they will reply with further info within 5 days or so. I'll wait until then and keep you guys posted.

Getting this single document is more stressing, annoying and probably more expensive than anything else in the PR. It's so frustrating cause in many other countries you can request your Federal Police Certificate online and then received by mail within one week. That's one of my main reasons of immigrating to Cananda, the lack of useless bureaucracy that exist in Mexico.

This is what it says on CIC website, it doesn't say anywhere that we need to get the letter from the Canadian Embassy. Below is the link;

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/north-america/mexico.asp

I agree with CChabert, I stick to what I see until asked because look like it is another procedure which is not mentioned anywhere. I will translate and send and see what happens. Can it get more difficult than this?

Correct, it is the most expensive for me more than the CIC fee for the entire family and its still not done. It is for my spouse and I am the principle applicant, if this is the way it will work then what I should do, my PCC may come out any day and once I send to Buffalo, I will not be getting it back and to get another one is a pain. I have already sent them the State PCC, this is the Federal which I am waiting for.

Now I am double minded on what to do...

I agree as well and I feel the pain because I am going through this and this never end. I will still send a certified translated copy with the PCC and see what happens, they will just keep in delaying it so my other PCC expires and they ask for them again. Will it ever ends somewhere?
