I agree with you !NewYorker!! It is too hard to get that document....if she goes to the Mexican Consulate, she can apply for the birth certificate,the curp., and the letter from the consulate,.,power of attorney is easy, you can write it yourself or I can give you an example of the letter. I really wish I could help you more...in my case my family helped me to get the new birth certificates, she doesnt have to go by herself.

Susana
Also, It says three sets of fingerprints, you mean on the FBI Fingerprint paper, where I need to do this fingerprints from. Each cost $20 in US.

Guadalajara Mexico
NewYorker,

First or all you need the letter request from the Embassy or Consulate to PGR, ask CIC for it!

You still have time, you can solve it in a week or so, but I really think your wife needs to go to Mexico to get it, If I were in Mexico City I would help you, no doubt...but from this ranch Guadalajara there is not much I can do.

I did not receive any letter so what does it means? I am not sure which letter you are talking about they sent me medical request along with the Police report and that doesn't have any letter in it.

I am trying hard, anyone living abroad (in US) need the following;

1. CUPR
2. Power of Attorney Letter in the name of person who will pick this report in Mexico, this can be done from Consulate of Mexico (cost $120)
3. Letter from Consulate of Mexico stating you live in that country and you need the Police Certificate (whatever the name is) from PGR
4. Passport copies certified
5. 3 Sets of Fingerprints
6. Photos with particular styles
7. NEW Birth Certificates

The above information is only for Mexican Citizens, I am not sure what is required for foreigners.

Thanks to Susana for making me understand this correctly. No need of letter from CIC.

CChabert since you also going to need this, be prepared for the police report;

You need to do few things in advance before you actually apply for the police report, details are as follows;

Before you get the Police Request
1. Get the CURP from Mexico
2. Get a New Birth Certificate (issued this year)
3. Get Voter Card or you need to send the passport itself (optional)
4. 2 Photos of each applicant
5. 3 Sets of all fingerprints from Police station or authorized agent

After you received the Police Request
6. Get Letter from Mexico consulate stating why you need this report
7. Get Power of Attorney letter if you can't go to Mexico and want to appoint someone on your behalf - If you will go by yourself, you don't need this letter
8. PGR Fee

Then you send this all together or take it with you to Mexico city. Remember, these are very lengthy processes and will take time, so be prepared unlike me.

Good Luck!

Thank you NewYorker and how about the proof of residence no more than 2 months? is this one from you or the person who is going to do the stuff in Mexico, because if it is from me I think need translation also. Don't we?

Keep up posted on how do you get the Curp and Birth Certificate, if your wife travel to do this or by other route?

cchabert...congratulations for getting your curp...no more headaches on this matter !! ...keep gathering all your documents, so you can have everything ready when you need it.

And your are rigth, NewYorker forgot on his list the proof of residency..that is a must !! you can send one with your current address in the States, translated and certified, or one from a family member living in Mexico with your last name on it..send both if you can, if not, yours is enough.

This is where I am confused...... Proof of residency?? Where?? So my common sense which is not working lately says this;

I need a letter stating that I am the person common law to the person concern and I live in the US and my address is so and so and attached is the utility bill on my name (All needs to be translated in Spanish). Once I type this letter, I need this to be notarized and have certified with translation.

Is that correct for the damn letter?
