To Zico...the letter you need can be written by the Mexican Consulate nearest to the place you live. Letter for CIC is needed when the Canadian Embassy applies directly for the PGR Police Clearance.

If you speak Spanish and if you read the instructions, they are very clear, they are asking for a letter by an Embassy or Consulate. They are not asking for a letter for CIC. I sent mine written by The Mexican Consulate in Calgary. No problems at all to obtain the Constancia if you send all the documents they are requesting . Print the instructions and take them with you. If would be better if you request the letter by writing, explaining the reason for it.

This in an example:

DATE:

LIC. CONSUL'S NAME
CONSUL
CONSULADO DE MEXICO EN CITY
PRESENTE

Estimado Lic. CONSUL'S NAME:

I hope it helps....

YOKOTOTO...my advise, wait until they request it.

Good luck

Hi Susana,

Unfortunately, I cant read or speak Spanish. Can you send me the link to the page on the requirements for processing the Federal Police Certificate. You can copy the list of requirements and send to me either.

Thanks.

Zico.

TO ZICO:

If you apply directly for the Federal Police Clearance, you will have to send original and a photocopy of the following; (all documents must be translated to Spanish...certified translation)
*:
· Official ID...Passport..they may accept a certified copy of your passport. Has to be done by the Mexican Consulate in your Country.
· Utility bill with your physical address and your name on it, not older than 2 months.
· A letter from the Mexican Consulate (the nearest one to her location) addressed to the Director General de Control de Procesos Penales Federales, requiring La Constancia de Antecedentes Regístrales. THIS IS A MUST !!!!
· 3 sets of fingerprints
· A current birth certificate (Issued in 2010)
· 2 pictures (one front and one profile (rigt side of your face))
· Payment. It has to be paid on the bank using a special format named forma fiscal SAT-5.
· If somebody is applying on your name, YOU will need to write a Power of Attorney (carta poder) signed by you, two witnesses and the person whose going to apply for the certificate. (You will have to photocopy the ID of all the signers).

IF YOU DO NOT HAVE FRIENDS OR FAMILY LIVING IN MEXICO CITY, TO OBTAIN THIS POLICE CLEARANCE IS NOT GOING TO BE EASY FOR you

Zico...I will recommend you to send an e-mail to the CIC office that is processing your case, and ask for the instructions to apply for the Federal Police Clearance from Mexico; I know a lot of applicants that got the instructions asking them to send the set of fingerpints and pictures to the Canadian Embassy in Mexico City, and they applied directly for it.

I wish you the best of luck.

You can find the link for the PGR in previous posts in this topic.

I found this link in Mexico, I do not know them, but they can apply for this certificate for a fee. Sorry, the link is in Spanish, but you can e-mail them, I can bet they speak English.

Like Susana already said, most of us had CIC Mexico ask for the antecedentes on our instead and CIC Mexico got them for our respectives CICs, antecedentes never reached our hands. I know you have asked your CHC office already (have you faxed them?) and unfortunately there's no much else to do but to keep asking them to give you the instructions to obtain it.

Hello All,

I dont understand what is happening at the Mexican Consulate at Abuja. It looks as if they have not done this before.

Can anyone tell me the Mexican Consulate/embassy that has issued this request letter in the past. I need to refer them to the consulate/embassy so that they will know the procedure.

Thanks everyone for your help. I was asked to either come over or mail my passport to CIC Ghana. They have issued the visa.

One surprise though is that they had to get the police cert by themselves. Mexican embassy only issued the letter yesterday. Too late.

The next phase is planning.

Goodluck and remain blessed.

Thank you!

I read the thread however all the postings in Spanish I do not understand. So I am not sure if they contain information for my case.

So if I understood it right for the "datos registrales " in Mexico City I need:

1) Three set of fingerprints (do they have to be translated??)
2) Certified copy of my visa for Canada (can they do that at the Consulate? )
3) The letter why I need it (that they would write at the consulate??)
4) 2 pictures (normal passport pictures??)
5) fee (how much is that??)
6) Power of attorney (could anyone provide me with a sample letter? )

For the one in Jalisco I need;

1) Copy of visa in Canada?
2) One more set of fingerprints?

Can anyone verify this?

Thanks so much!!!

This is not acatually a reply, but i have to say so far i have had a good experience with my process for Residency. The only thing i am struggling with is how to get FULL SETS OF FINGERPRINTS done in Puerto Vallarta without having to travel all the way to Mexico City?

Hi,

Where are you located? I'm not sure I understood it from your posting. Your local mexican consulate should be able to do it if outside of Mexico, if you're in Mexico, then it is very likely you will have to go to Mexico City yourself and do it. I am well aware that there are ways to obtain it without actually going but I'm not knowledgeable on how to do it this way.
