Do you really need to request for police clearance only after you receive ITA?

For your current country of residence it should be as recent as possible.

For countries where you cumulatively lived for over 6 months, you need a PCC issued after the last day you resided in that country.

I applied in August 2015 with a PCC that was acquired in November 2014. CIC website states that PCC should be obtained after the period when you have last lived more than 6 months.

Your PCC should be fine!!! All the best with your application

Hi,
Have few questions on PCC.

1) A PCC is valid uptill what time? A year from the date of issue?
2) I lived in USA for more than 6 months in 2007-2008. Thereafter I again visited USA for 2 months in 2013. So, I have to get the PCC of which period from USA?
3) How long does it take to get PCC from USA?
4) How long does it take to get PCC from India?

Thanks in advance.

For the current country of residence, the PCC should not be older than 6 months at the time of submission of e-APR. For other countries, if the PCC is issued AFTER you left the country AND you never back to that country - it is valid indefinitely. Otherwise, a new PCC for that country.

PCCs are required for ALL countries where you have stayed for 6 months or more (in total) since you were 18 years old.

IMO, you should get PCC for the entire period you stayed in US.

3) How long does it take to get PCC from USA?

Takes around 4 months I guess. Anyone who has applied can provide better insight.

4) How long does it take to get PCC from India?

You get it on the same day if the address on your PP is the same as your current residential address. Otherwise, it might take anywhere between a week to 25 days. You can apply at the PSK in your area.

Thanks in advance.

Thank you so much for your prompt reply.

I dont know of any who could have got a PCC from USA, I guess will have to check on various forums only. If you know of any such thread existing on this forum, then please do let me know.

There are several threads on this topic if you search for it. Also, the PCC for USA will not have any time frame and will cover all periods of stay.

Thanks Piyush.

Yes, I searched and got quite a lot of information from other forums about this. However, I am still in dilemma as to whether do this all by my own or through a agency that takes finger prints and sends it to FBI too.

If you have the time do it yourself. It doesn't seem like a very complex procedure.

Yes, I have lots of time on hand. Therefore, I am trying to get a clear picture as to what & how should I do this, if someone can guide along a bit.

For e.g. this link here http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/north-america/united-states.asp gives a very clear cut picture as what needs to be done & sent i.e. "Mail the signed applicant information form, fingerprint card, and payment of $18 U.S. dollars to the following address...". My confusion is, where do I get this fingerprint card done?

It can be done near Crawford market. There is CID finger printing division next to Haj house.

1) Can it be done at any local police station? or Police Commissioner's office?
2) If yes, will they have fingerprint cards or do we need to download from here and take along https://www.fbi.gov/file-repository/standard-fingerprint-form-fd-258-1.pdf/view
3) The downloaded one on A4 paper will do?

BSL kept the passport and status document for PCC!! How long it will take to get one??
Can you do the medical without having passport and status document!!

Guys i have a question, would appreciate if anybody answers .have been living in canada for 4 years now, went to see family back home for 1 month about an year ago. so in that case would i need a PCC ?

Hi Raj- I have a friend who got an invitation directly from CIC( 480+ points) and has been asked to provide US PCC even though he submitted which was more than a year. He never went back to US, still they have asked him to provide latest one as the earlier was more than a year.

It contradicts with their instructions...

My US PCC is more than a year now and now I am in dilemma to apply again or not.

Any thought...?
