My friend you should contact OINP and get renewal it was clearly mention in the nomination you should keep your status valid all the time.
Secondly AOR is not necessary for WP Extension you can apply on the basis of Nomination
(see below email sent me CIC agent) but in your scenario you can apply before 4 months of your permit expiry and you were eligible on Jan 26, 2016 but now your Nomination has expired so either wait for AOR or apply nomination certificate extension.....I think till you get your AOR it is always safe to have a valid nomination in case of any discrepancy in the application.

Have received a positive eligibility assessment on your PR application or, if applicable, the Acknowledgment of Receipt from the processing office,
Are currently in Canada, and
Already have a valid work permit that is due to expire within 4 months.

To apply for an open work permit, you must send an Application to Change Conditions or Extend Your Stay as a Worker to the Case Processing Centre in Vegreville, Alberta.
You must do this before your work permit expires. You keep your current status under the same conditions, until a decision is made (implied status).
