My parents had valid visitor visa when CIC issued them immigrant visa. My parents visitor visa was not cancelled while PR landing. Only their immigrant visas were striked-off. They still have a valid visitor visa stamped on their passports.

my time is similar to yours except the original application date is sept 2008. not sure if they are following original application dates.
