Hi Sugha,
I am the sponsor for my parents application. If I request the information do I need to get consent forms filled by my parents? Or being a sponsor I don't need them? Can you please shed some light? Thanks in Advance.

I don't think it's a good idea to access ATIP info unless it's necessary (over the processing time limit, etc.). Immigration Officer's hand-notes are also included with the request if you would like the access the info for the whole file. Sometimes it may cause further delay for the case processing.

yes, i sent a signed consent from my parents (scan) when i requested gcms notes

i believe that you need a consent even if you are a sponsor... not sure if you need a consent if you are a representative - probably not... you can ask CIC...

I believe, a signed consent form is required even if one is a representative.
[However, this is required only the first time the request is made. For subsequent request, a consent form need not be included as long as the last consent was within one year. --- not sure about this, I thought I had come across this a while ago, but cannot seem to find this online]

I think this is not quite clear. They do emphasize need for 'consent' everywhere however in the request form iteself on the instruction page (p1) in the notes about section A Details of request there is the following paragraph:

4. Requesting information for another individual?
You can access the Use of Representative form at the following link http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/representative.asp OR the Authority to release Personal Information to a Designated Individual form at the following link: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/release-info.asp


So, since this is an 'OR' statement it sounds to me that either form is acceptable (unless they have different definition of 'OR' )

Today I got AOR from New Delhi VO through e mail that has the same format as everybody is getting...........1st review after 9 months....
Letter has June 19,2012 date on it but I got the e mail today.
My file was transferred to New Delhi on April 18,2012

Yes, only my father (I lost my mother during the process). He is actually in Canada, since we lost my mother, my father stay almost all time here.
Hopping get visa soon. I hope that you will have news soon, we are around same timeline.

Hi everyone,

I was not checking this post for a while and now here is my update:

Last time I updated here was when CIC asked my father to do more tests. Now he did the tests and DMP mailed them and gave us the tracking number.
My parents also got their last PCC (they needed from more than one country) and are going to send it in couple of days. Hopefully next time CIC will ask for passport for issuing visa.

Detail of additional test for everyone information
1- Received letter from CIC asking to take a sealed envelope to DMP
2- Blood test for TB which took 6 weeks
3- X-ray from chest
4- DMP referred my father to an specialist to sign his papers (indicating everything is OK)
5- My father took papers back to DMP
6- DMP mailed the test results and gave us a tracking number
7- I am waiting to see if I see medical received online.

I am going to apply for GCMS in couple of weeks to see how CIC is processing my parents' file. I think if I apply now it will not show anything about their medical and PCC yet.
I have one question about GCMS and I would appreciate it if anyone could anwer it.

Do I need to to pay the 5 dollars or not? I am not representative and will send consent forms but I am not sure if it is free because I am requesting it or I should pay $5 because it is on behalf of my parents (non-canadian, non-resident)?

Home country: Roumania

Yes, my father come in visit, he left Canada in February 2012 after 1 year.Before 6 months passed we went to USA and we got 9 months more not more, because his 5 years visa has due date March 2012. In April 2012 my father went to Canadian Embassy in Roumania and he got other 5 years visa (not super visa). In same time he did medicals tests for permanent residence. After 3 months in Roumania he come back in Canada.

my mom will do addtional x-ray this week - hope to send to medical office next week... then i will wait until they are delivered and probably give about 10 days for medical office to review them before ordering gcms notes...

The $5 charge is mandatory for any info request (ATIP request) regardless your own file or your parents files. There is a cost associated with that (searching time-labour, paper & ink). It includes the cost of 25 pages. If the info you requested more than 25 pages, you will have to pay on top of that. CIC visa officers who prepare your request info, will keep track of the searching time on monthly report in the system. The deadline for such request is 30 days.
