Hello Everyone, when I sent my interest to sponsor back in 2020 I was married. 4 months later after sending my interest to sponsor I separated from my husband, and I have been separated since (but im not legally divorced) so I am confused if I should put the information of my ex in the forms when it asks for "spouse/common law partner" information. any comments on this?

hello everyone, does anyone know if there is a way to see a copy of my initial application to sponsor? I sent it in 2020 and after a separation and two moves, I cannot find the copy I printed back then. my current application must match the one from 2020 and I have no idea what I wrote back then to make sure they are identical. I appreciate any comments. thanks.

last and final question! my dad has 9 siblings, half of them are estranged and the other half my dad doesn't even know their full names or dates of birth - must every single sibling be included even if there is no interest in sponsoring them to come to canada? we dont talk to that side of the family lol.

Hi there, I think you should still mention your ex.. that is my interpretation of the below given. Hope it helps.
https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/application/application-forms-guides/guide-5772-application-sponsor-parents-grandparents.html

Step 1. How many people are in your family (including how many you sponsored or co-signed before)?

Include

  • yourself
  • your spouse (even if you’re separated, in most cases) or common-law partner, who could also be your co-signer
  • your dependent children
    • their dependent children, if they have any
  • your spouse’s or common-law partner’s dependent children, and
    • their dependent children, if they have any

Hi there, me again.. no you can omit them all. Just that your parents won't be able to sponsor them (I think I read it somewhere it categorically stating that) but they cannot do so for the next five years anyway. A sponsored person cannot sponsor for 5 years. Hope it helps!

Hi , my sister made a mistake when applying for her visitor visa . She accidentally mentioned that my parents were married but one of my parents was already deceased. Her visa has already been granted and now on her work permit. Now I am applying for my mom I need to mention my dad deceased during that time. Is there any way to correct this for my sister or how should I apply? Also I am in such a situation that if I don’t apply because of this I will loose this opportunity and if I apply I have a fear that they may go through my sister application back in 2022. Please advise.

Hi everyone,

Finally received an invite this year. Had a few queries for discussion, hoping someone can help.

1. Parents likely won't be able to do the online application themselves through the Permanent Residence Portal. Most likely, I will be helping them. Should I fill it up as if they are filling it in or should I do so as a representative through the Representative Permanent Residence Portal? Even though I am their sponsor (their child), I believe I can be their representative as well. Thoughts/ suggestions?

2. If I fill in as a representative, I imagine it should be unpaid? My confusion - Invitation letter only talks about paid representative, though the representative form (imm 5476e) has options of uncompensated (friend or family member) or compensated (in good standing/ professional). I feel I should fill in as unpaid representative to keep it clean. Thoughts/ suggestions?

3. Don't recall if I added my spouse as a sponsor in the interest form of 2020. But either way, should be fine if we want my spouse to be included as a sponsor now. Thoughts/ suggestions?

4. Marriage Certificate for parents - will get an affidavit from court + parents mentioned in home country's previous passport. Thoughts/ suggestions?

5. Mother's name change post marriage - will get an affidavit from court documenting the name change. Thoughts/ suggestions?

6. Below may apply to many - please check.
My status changed from PR to citizen, after submitting interest in 2020. Am thinking of submitting my Canadian citizenship proof + birth country's cancelled passport (which was valid in 2020). Thoughts/ concerns? Refer from guide below.

You must include a copy of the same status in Canada document you submitted with your Interest to Sponsor form in 2020 with your application to sponsor your parents and grandparents. Upload your status in Canada document to your online application under the section “Supporting documents.”
If you submitted a passport, other than a Canadian passport, with your Interest to Sponsor form in 2020, please submit a copy of the passport you submitted and one of the documents listed above to confirm your status in Canada.

Thanks

On the representative issue - it appears the portal is for paid representatives only. If we are representing parents, do we have to show receipt of a nominal payment? What am I missing here?

HI,

I'm from Indian and filling up the PGP application. I don't see IRRC asking for PCC in the portal. I'm reading here people talking about the PCC. Could someone please let me know if pcc is summitted with the application?

Hi Guys,

I have another questions: when we initially submitted interest to sponsor did we have to include the family size of the person/persons we wanted to sponsor or our own family size? I am getting so confused now ..
