Speaking of winning the lottery, I just got an email from IRCC today informing me that I can now apply to sponsor my parents. I thought they are not going to send out invitations until late April.

Anyhow, should anyone wants to know, IRCC is sending invitations now - or may be even earlier. I got mine today.
Hi,
Do you have to include your reference number when you apply? Would you mind sharing the letter with the group.

But you could argue it helps generate money for Canada.
Not really, coz they spend time to check the completeness and eligibility of the application, then reject afterwards.
Some people that got selected, when they prepare the app, they will realize they are not eligible and they will not proceed with the submission, yes it's a waste of spot, but what can we do?

Hi everyone , I have a quick question.I can see my confirmation number online ,but I didnot get email yet,How long does it normally take for cic to send emails?

I meant selection number?

Curious : total number of invitations I can see online is: 15,000 But CIC is going to expect and process 10,000 applications. What if they get more than 10,000 completed and eligible applications ?

So if they reject do you get back your money? I thought people are saying that they still process it even if you are not eligible?

For Canada's interest I would encourage people to submit once they are selected in the lottery whether or not they are eligible. It is in Canada's interst to do so. After all the online form to submit interest to sponsor has asked the relevant LICO questions. So people have said yes. You should expect an application. Collect the $550.

It's not refundable when they start processing it. 2 outcomes on the app - approved or rejected

Do they contact you saying "Err we just went through your application and it looks like you are not eligible. Do you wish to withdraw your application ? Or do you want to pay $550 and have us to process it anyway?"

Does CIC do that?

Hi all,

i have 3 questions.

1. i met my income requirement for 2014,2015 and 2016 and we were family of 4(me, wife, father, mother).
In Feb 2017, my son is born and now we are family of 5. When i compare my income for 2015 as family of 5 i am short of 3500$.
Does anyone can please confirm if they will consider my family income with respect to 5 family members OR 4 members? Because in 2015, we were family of 4 and were eligible.

2. Before my son was born, my wife took maternity leave in nov and dec 2016. In form "Income Sources for the sponsorship of parents and grandparents" they have a question as ""(e) Amount paid to you under the Employment Insurance Act,"". Do we need to add maternity money paid by EI under this column?

3. Do i need to add my wife as co-signer if i am eligible to apply on my own?

your help and time is really appreciated.

Not sure, when you get AOR, imo, then they started processing it and collected the fee, then check eligibility, etc.
Not sure if same as cit app, when it's incomplete, they will return the app and they will not collect the app fee.

Hi Rob,
I see you helping out many people with your experience.
Just curious to know if you won the 2018 lottery?

and you're absolutely right in saying that if you're even a dollar short, your application WILL BE rejected..

My wife is considering to sponsor her parents one day so we are keeping up with the program and the rules, but not at this time so she didn't enter the lottery this year.

Is it possible to apply without including her brother? In that way the income requirement will be fulfilled for 4ppl!!

No it's not possible. All parents and dependents MUST be included in family size regardless if they are immigrating or not. This is also clearly explained in the rules about family size.

if its online form, you

is it like an online form that if your income does not meet the requirement, you are not able to submit? otherwise I can't imagine how this is done by human being (what do i know i'm not even selected)

Income will eventually be checked by a visa officer. When they see the income does not meet LICO in any given year, they will send out a procedural fairness letter first to see how sponsor will respond, and assuming they really didn't meet income the app will then be rejected.

This is nothing new, even before the lottery people were submitting apps without meeting LICO, and there are several posts here of people getting the rejection several years later.

Kemeshia:

You do not need to include your reference number. It has a barcode on the first st page, and says:

“Below is a barcode that will help our agents match the information you supplied when you submitted your interest to sponsor your parents. Please print this page, and include it as your first page when you submit your application.”

So, don’t sweat if you lost your reference number. As for seeing 15k reference numbers, I think that’s the preliminary list. They send out invitations to the first batch and have extra 5k as a backup in case some people are found to be not eligible. That’s just my thought.

Curious, eh? ;)
