Assuming you aren't married and don't have children and are a family of 3, unfortunately you didn't meet LICO for 2014 and 2015.

My sister and I have our PRs, live and earn in Toronto.
we want to sponsor our mum and dad by starting the application in 2018 after the lottery selection (fingers crossed).
Is there any chance we could be co-sponsors of mum and dad, to make MNI?
currently, one of my past 3 financial years (2014) does not make the MNI so i'm sad i can't apply as a solo sponsor for 2018 count of 3 (me+mum+dad).
however my sister's + her husband's income should qualify for the past 3 years for a count of 5 (sis+hubby+baby+mum+dad)

our concern is about my sister's eligibility as sponsor; since my sister had spousal sponsorship by her Canadian citizen husband (and now has her PR status) is she ineligible to sponsor our parents because she herself was sponsored? she apparently read it somewhere but i am unable to find that info.

if she can sponsor them, that would be good news and I would greatly appreciate a link to the CIC website confirming so.

cheers!

Good news yous sister and her husband do qualify to sponsor your parents if they continue to meet LICO. If they have another child make sure they keep their income above the threshold if they get selected. Think she had read about a divorced spouse who had been sponsored not being able to sponsor their next spouse for 5 years. Pretty sure it is 5 years but someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Hi,

Thanks for sharing the great info. My brother lives in Montreal and like to apply for PGP2018. Does he still need to show 3 years LICO income? He wants to apply under Quebec law and not federal?

For 2018 sponsorship, can we anticipate IRCC to check qualification of candidates before entering the candidates to lottery round?

If IRCC decides to perform qualifications, can I get feedback from the contributors on the list of qualifications?

1. Relationship Qualification - that one is sponsoring own parents/grandparents and not others like brother's in-laws.
2. Residency Status - PR/Citizen to apply.
3. Income Qualification - Meet 2014, 2015, 2016 - Minimum Necessary Income
4. No Duplication of Lottery Entry Request

Once Qualified for lottery, the applicant must pass the -
1. Medical check
2. Background/Criminal check

Along with above, the condition also applies to Sponsor that he/she will take care of the parents/grandparents for a certain years.

EDIT: Just noticed you don't have the income for 2015 either, so you wouldn't qualify either way..

We won't find out till 10am EST whether they are looking for 2014, 2015 & 2016 or 2015, 2016 & 2017 income.

There isn't any point in speculating until we can see the online application form. Nobody knows yet what years income they are going to ask for. At the moment its still just the 2017 information that is displayed on the webpage.

Good luck :)

You + spouse + 2 parents = family size of 4. Income requirement is around $58K for past 3 years, so you are quite short and don't qualify.

If you have income in 2016, 2017 and 2018, you can possibly apply to lottery in 2019 or 2020 depending what years are required.

Only your sister should enter the lottery. As long as her + spouse income is more than $66K (family size of 5), they would qualify for income on their own. You can't be a co-signer to a sibling.

The 5-year rules is irrelevant and only applies to sponsoring a spouse. It doesn't' apply to parents sponsorship.

3 people + 2 parents + 1 dependent of parents = family size of 6. Income requirement for 3 years is around $75K, so sounds like you would qualify.

You each need to enter the lottery separately. If you win a spot you can sponsor your own parents only, if she wins a spot she can sponsor her mom only. You can't combine the apps together so you would both need to win lottery spots.

If you do both win lottery spots you can co-sign each others apps. 2 separate apps, but family size needs to count everyone (you + spouse + 2 parents + 1 parent = 5 people). Income of $100K for past 3 years would easily qualify you.

It's the government. Expect delays.
