Those of you who are waiting for your checks to be cashed by CIC, have you checked with your banks if the checks have been cleared?

My package was received by CIC on April 23 (second time) and I just called my bank and the check has NOT been cleared. Now I am starting to worry if there is something wrong/missing in my application package and it may be returned back to me second time.

A good news, not related to CIC, that is making me smile a bit when CIC is making me go crazy: I got my labor approved (EB2) last Friday (it took them six long months) and I might get my US GC sooner than CA PR. But I want CA PR more than US GC.
My application reached CIC on April 15th and as of Friday, my check was not cashed.
same here. CIC recieved my file on April 15th. As of today, my money order was not yet presented for payment.

You are absolutely right. Give priority to Canada PR over US PR. I wish these feelings spread over and Let these USCIS and Congress could realize that forget about leadership in Science & technology, USA is not even a desired place to live and work. No bright and brighest or skilled professionals would like to come where protectionism and stupid immigration laws stops him to achieve his ultimate potential in terms of work performance and salary. They should take a lesson from British HSMP Visa where if you are qualified, You can switch as many as employer, You can do the Business which enables candidate to build his fortune and make big bucks$$$$$$$ which eventually pays Government more taxes.

Yes see if any position which requires certain specific skills like here:
"Software Configuration Management & Change mangement specialist with white and red hairs on top of head, at least two pimples on right cheek and 3 years hands on experience in IBM Rational Clear Case 3.0 and Clear quest 2.5 version. Candidate must be able to link the tables in SQL Database."
I think No Canadian Citizen or Permanent resident will be able fulfill this requirement and Candidate will be able to get Positive LMO as under pressured skill-set.

Actually I called AINP regarding this and they told me that LMO is not needed. All you need is a job offer and AINP will give you a letter that you will bring to the consulate, specific instructions will be included. Bring the letter from AINP, Job offer, and other requirements of CIC to a consulate. They said most of the border consulates gives work permit on the same day, check the processing time of Buffalo and you will see that 48% of work permits are done in 2days or less. I hope this helps.

I think you need an offer letter and your job should be in line with the NOC you used for nomination.

AINP will be very glad to issue whatever is required for work permit, since you are the first one from SRS stream to achieve this they might arrange for free pick-up at the airport.

And this very motivating for all other nominees.

Good Luck

inergarcia and folks:

There should be no confusion regarding Work permit, LMO process. First you all need to undertand the fundamentals of LMO:

What is LMO Labor Market Opinion?

LMO is a process which document and certify the need of Alberta/Canada Based employer in terms of labor or skill shortage.

Thus, AINP Nomination Certificate itself fulfill this need to document and certification. Because AINP (Under US Visa Stream) in nominating only under pressure occupation experienced candidates.

Therefore, if you are nominated under H1B Stream it means you have been already certified as skilled labor who is in list of shortage skills. So, Once you have a Nomination certificate You DO NOT need any LMO.

What is the EB2 priority date for Nepal?
I have no idea. All I know is some of my friends from Nepal got their GC in 3 to 6 months from the day they sent in their I-140 and I485. As of now, I do not even know how to check the priority date, but I will figure that out in next few days. I will be doing the rest of the process myself, so I need to know those things.

Edited: Just checked these two websites:
http://www.murthy.com/visadate.html
http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/bulletin/bulletin_4454.html

It looks like the visa is current for EB2 for Nepal, but not sure if that is what you were asking me.

OK guys I called Alberta again... and they are going to e-mail me some information about the process... however she gave me an overview and everything was just a confirmation of bb0310, bendjoe and Albertagoverner's post.
Once you get the nomination it replaces the LMO... so that's the reason why they don't need LMO...
Also processing times depend on the consulate. At least in NY is 1-28 days..
To process work permit I just need the job offer, copy of AINP certificate or AINP nomination confirmation letter, plus documents from CIC check list...
Additionally she told me to fax the job offer letter+AINP number to Alberta...
