they will request a new one usuallyWe are almost 1 year with our Outland Application.
I hope someone had an experience regarding Police Clearance Certificate. My wife's PCC validity is only good for 1 year.
Will they ask for a new one or just continue processing the application due to the delay with Covid?
This seems to be the argument at all VO. Files are being sent to offices but no one to scan them into the system. This is why to government needs to automate this process its 2021.Interesting article in Toronto's The Star (although you need to subscribe to read it).

Here's an excerpt regarding cases from India...
"The immigration department’s response to court in Dhaliwal’s case sheds light on the chaos in its offices during the pandemic.
In asking the court to dismiss the case, the department said the High Commission of Canada in India was only operating at 30 per cent staff capacity as of July. In-person interviews were still not permitted due to the lack of necessary information management and or information technology capacity.
It cited a letter to the Federal Court in June that highlighted the conditions on the ground in its operations in India:
- Its offices in Bangalore and Chandigarh remained closed while officials in New Delhi struggled to maintain “critical” function only;
- Less than 40 per cent of officers and fewer than 15 per cent of support staff were able to work remotely, on electronic files only while a high volume of paper files were stored on site;
- Forty of the department’s 61 overseas offices were only able to deliver critical services."
I see. Already told my wife to get a new one though just in case they ask, thank you very much!they will request a new one usually
I would say they do not always ask for updated police clearance ... but it's probably the best move to arrange for a new one, since invariably it'll be asked of those for whom it's most difficult to get or that decided it probalby wouldn't be needed.I see. Thank you for your insight, I'm hoping as well that they would not ask for an updated one, so not to delay further (fingers crossed) I just realized it last night, so I advised my wife right away to get one, just in case.I would say they do not always ask for updated police clearance ... but it's probably the best move to arrange for a new one, since invariably it'll be asked of those for whom it's most difficult to get or that decided it probalby wouldn't be needed.
If this is the email link to setup the PR Portal, add your Canadian mailing address, and upload photos, you're correct, it's not COPR.Edit: I did receive my portal email this morning. 1 year to the day lol. As far as time line goes, this is not the COPR correct? This is still considered part of the passport request stage?
Thank you for the info! I only received the email asking for info, no link to portal yet, but I'm hoping it'll come quick and then the rest of the process will go quickly as well. Hoping everyone else gets done too, it's been a long year!If this is the email link to setup the PR Portal, add your Canadian mailing address, and upload photos, you're correct, it's not COPR.
Yet.
Almost.
Once you add all the requested info to the Portal, IRCC reviews the mailing address and submitted photo, and issues an "eCOPR" once they're satisfied with the mailing address.
(We received the Portal email 2021-09-27, and just received email regarding the eCOPR about an hour ago. 2021-10-05, 363 days after receipt of application in Sydney, for any future thread finders...)
Once they're also satisfied with the photo, they'll mail the PR cards to the mailing address you've added to the portal.
While we applied Outland, we relocated to Canada several months before PR came through, and have been living in BC since the end of June.Wait, IRCC is supposed to create an account for your on their Permanent Resident portal and invite you in before you even land?
I had to go the route of mailing stuff to their office via VFS global and they mailed a paper version of the COPR back. There was no mention of a portal or an eCOPR.
Is it supposed to be either/or ?
Yes the portal is only for if you are already in Canada. Being American I'm allowed to be here for 6 months as a visitor so I've been here since June, hoping it would only be a couple monthsWait, IRCC is supposed to create an account for your on their Permanent Resident portal and invite you in before you even land?
