October 1st. Still nothing. No doc request or anything since SA on Nov 26th. I'm confused as to why this is taking forever when they don't need anything from us. I ordered our notes and it said since our file got to Ottawa on Dec 1st all that happened is that it went to 'Registry' then to 'Inventory'. So.... it's quite depressing.

Kerryann, is your file "in process" on ecas? If yes, since when? I wonder why it takes so long to finalise our files?

CIC gave me 45 days to send an additional document they needed from me. I'm thinking they will look at my application again after 45 days even though I sent the additional document on the same day I received the request. Additional document request was sent to me on June 11. So I'm anticipating my DM by the end of July. Wow one whole month to go! Maybe?

Anyway that's my theory. I'll let you all know if it's kinda right or totally wrong.

Hello everyone. I got mail from VO Today:

"Please note that due a delay in a clerical process your documents will be mailed within the next week.
Regarding the date of your landing, be advised that an extension has been granted and your visa will be valid until 2016/05/20, therefore you will have until that date to do your landing in Canada."

Am so happy, after seven weeks since I sent my passport I was feeling totally lost and hopeless. Im just so happy now.

Dear All,

Just to let you know that ecas says "Decision Made" today. I really hope it's good news..
CIC never asked for any documents or interview!

All the best to all applicants waiting for DMs!
Congrats to all who received their DMs!
& Thank you so much for all the support and advice I received in this forum.

My ecas also says DM today! Just 2 posts ago, I said I was anticipating my DM by the end of July. So my theory was wrong. Hopefully it's a positive decision!

If you haven't had an interview or a request for additional proof of relationship, it'll be good news! So, congrats maybe?

Thanks!

I got a request for my son's birth certificate about a month ago. I think they wanted to see my name and my husband's name on our son's birth certificate. I'm a little nervous because of that request but I'm hoping for the best.

I don't see how that could backfire. If your son was from another relationship (either you and someone else or your husband and someone else), then CIC would need to ensure that there were appropriate custody arrangements in place lest it accidentally aid in child kidnapping.

On a related note, however, if the sponsor was born in Canada or is a naturalized Canadian citizen, then your child may already be a Canadian citizen.

My husband is a Canadian citizen by birth. Our son was born in US. By the time I submitted the application, he had already become a citizen. I was thinking CIC needed more proof of relationship and that's why they asked for our son's birth certificate.

Did the application asked to send birth certificate of children? I don't remember but if it did I'm sure I sent it with application. Since my son is already a citizen, he is not my accompanying dependent. I don't remember having to provide a lot of information for your dependent who is citizen.

Anyway, I'm just wondering why it was requested. For more proof of relationship? Or I was supposed to send it but I didn't? Or it got lost in their office?

But anyway, all that matter now is the decision and it's on the way to me!

I don't have any inisght into the whys and wherefores, but I know from spending way too much time on here that if you are being refused, the DM on ECAS is not where you'll hear about it.

That's right. I was just babbling.

COOKIE AND FRESHMAN!!! Congrats to you both. I ALSO just got DM today ;D ;D ;D

Crazy since they don't typically update on Fridays, but it worked for us three! I too didn't have any correspondence since SA. Yahoo!

Sometimes with the written word it's hard to understand if there's something going on, but I wasn't trying to dismiss what you were saying, just that I had no opinions on why CIC had requested the birth certificate or what it could mean. I just wanted to let you know that getting DM, without them asking you point blank to prove your relationship or giving you an interview, is a good thing.

I apologize if you understood that I was saying you were babbling.
