Did you check on ecas using the sponsor`s UCI number right

I checked online but I have not received the letter yet and I am crossing my fingers that is a positive decision. I sponsored my mother and her husband back in 1992, that sponsorship was over in 2002 but my mom and her husband separated and apparently he was on welfare for a couple of months but I didn't find out until recently. I never received any letter from OW or revenue Canada so I hope it doesn't affect me. In other words I am super nervous waiting for the letter. When you don't know there are all kind of thoughts that invade your mind, mine is working overtime.

I checked using UCI number. I tried using the payment receipt number & the immigration file number but it did not work, only the UCI number works, and everyday I checked but there is no change since the end of November.

I keep checking using my UCI number and there hasnt been any change.

Some good news for us though. I called the agent and they said the file has been opened and everything looks in place and nothing is missing; I was also told its only taking this long because of the holidays and should hear back soon.

I suggest everyone else in the similar timeline call and ask the status.

Someone has been messing with the spreadsheet. There was another member yesterday who had to go back and enter in their dates.

Draxz, I called and my file has been moved into a temporary file, which she explained means its in queue to be processed. I even got a temporary file number. I'm not sure what good that does, but I'll take it

She also didn't feel the SA would come through before Xmas. Heck, at least I know my file is there and safe (I hope).

The temporary number is 2 letters, XF, and then 9 numbers, there is no way to check the status with that, it didn't work. I have a UCI number from when I submitted for my proof of citizenship, so I was surprised I was given a temporary number. I'm googling and can't find anything about a temporary number :-\

Thanks for sharing the info. They said 'if you are a PR'. Does this mean that if the sponsor is a citizen, he is allowed to leave no questions asked?

Either way the sponsor is able to leave Canada fora short holiday and nothing more.

May be I can chime in. We had applied for my wife`s PR on Oct 28th and still waiting for SA. I am planning to visit my spouse from Dec 26th to Jan 19th so 23 days. I had called CIC and spoke to three different agents and their answer was:

There is no specific time limit on how long you can and cannot stay outside, there is specifically nothing to stop the sponsor to go on`a short vacations. A short visit wouldn't cause a delay or a red flag but of course if the sponsor is away for 5-6 months that would be considered being a non-resident. Therefore the only way there would be a problem is if the sponsor is away for a long time and just leaving his/her life in Canada.

Hi,

I called in today regarding my application received on Oct 15th. I got the temporary file number from an agent last week. This morning the agent after verifying the information said that it has yet to be opened. He noticed something on the file and asked if my Wife is in Canada or outside. I told him outside and he asked why did I submit an inland application, when I know it was an outland application that was submitted. After a while he said it seems like it is an inland application and will send a message to the Mississauga office to have it moved to Outland. This got me worried so I called back a couple hours later and spoke to a different agent. He said it was in queue to be processed but thats it. When I asked to verify if it was Inland or Outland he put me on hold for 20 minutes and came back to say that he is unable to verify and that I should wait for the next online update.

I'm confused now, what do I do? I have the temporary file number (XF and then 9 digits), but I can't check the status online. Any and all advice/help is appreciated. Thanks!
