I don't think there is anyway for us to use this temporary file number to check the status online. One thing that struck me as odd was that the lady mentioned they have my "old address" on file and she needs my new address in Canada. I had to explain we don't live in Canada etc. I also found it strange when I was listening to all the information the automated lady gave me before I could speak to a live person, it said the average timeline for applications was 24 months, I also had a 6yr old chatting away, so I'm hoping I heard that wrong....muzmurad said:Hi,
I called in today regarding my application received on Oct 15th. I got the temporary file number from an agent last week. This morning the agent after verifying the information said that it has yet to be opened. He noticed something on the file and asked if my Wife is in Canada or outside. I told him outside and he asked why did I submit an inland application, when I know it was an outland application that was submitted. After a while he said it seems like it is an inland application and will send a message to the Mississauga office to have it moved to Outland. This got me worried so I called back a couple hours later and spoke to a different agent. He said it was in queue to be processed but thats it. When I asked to verify if it was Inland or Outland he put me on hold for 20 minutes and came back to say that he is unable to verify and that I should wait for the next online update.
I'm confused now, what do I do? I have the temporary file number (XF and then 9 digits), but I can't check the status online. Any and all advice/help is appreciated. Thanks!
