I think you can apply fro bowp with ur AOR and continue staying in Canada until you hear about the final decision on your PR.

Yes you can do that. Apply for BOWP on basis of your AOR. So until you get decision for BOWP, you can stay in Canada on Implied status (no status as decision on your BOWP is still pending). Most probably you will get BOWP.

No in order to apply for the BOWP the wp status should be valid.

To be eligible for a bridging open work permit, the applicants must:

Currently be in Canada;
Have valid status on a work permit that is due to expire within 4 months;
Have received confirmation from CIC that their permanent resident application is eligible under one of the four Economic Classes (FSWP, CEC, PNP and FSTP), and;
Have made an application for an open work permit.

Hi santosh - You can give a try and see.
Explain the situation in a covering letter and see what Immigration department will tall about it.

Hi there, once you change your status to Visitor, you won't be eligible for BOWP. Also, since your WP has already expired, I doubt CIC will approve your BOWP now. One condition of BOWP is that you must have a WP that will be expiring within 4 months. I had changed my status to Visitor after my WP expired, when I received AOR I applied for BOWP and it was declined. They however mentioned that I could apply to extend my stay as a visitor. I left Canada and I'm back home awaiting final decision on my PR.

Hi Guys,

Need your advise at the earliest.

My work permit expired on December [i applied for PR on November 2013]. Today I got a call from my employer that my LMO has been rejected and I have to leave the country in 3 weeks.

I would like to know if there is a way to get BOWP. Any information is really appreciated.

Well if you want to give the BOWP a shot, that's totally up to you. You can apply online for this. You will need a digital photo(specs can be found on CIC site) and soft copy of your passport to apply. As others suggested too, having a cover letter explaining your situation might help as well. Send the BOWP application in first online, if this gets approved you're good to go...but if it gets decline then you will have to apply to "restore" your status as a Visitor. This can also be done online, additional doxument would be proof of funds(bank statement). You will need to prove to CIC that you have enough funds to support yourelf as a Visitor in Canada. With regards to the amount of funds required, that would depend on how long you're applying to stay as a Visitor. I believe you can stay 6 months tops as a Visitor. I had extended my stay successfully as a Visitor for 4 months showing 8K balance in bank account. To apply online for BOWP or Visitor status is very simple. You will find step by step instructions so no need to worry. Hope this helps. Others may have an input as well. All the best!!

Hi All

In one of my WP, instead of my "Employer's Name" my "Client's Name" is mentioned. Even when I had to apply for WP extension, it my Employer would do, but when i got the WP extension, again the "Client's Name" is mentioned.

When i applied for PR, under CEC, i had included the reference letter both from my Employer and Client, but didnt included a cover letter explaining this difference.

Do you think this will be a problem while the VO is reviewing my file? What are the option i have to allay this concern.

Please assist.

just follow this link..firstly u gotta answer the questionnaire to apply online..However i don't think u will be able to apply online as u'r current work permit status is expired..Just give a try..hope everything goes well good luck to u..

As my passport is about to expire in next one year, if I applied for renewal of my Passport, and get the renewed one with new expiry date and other updated details? Do I need to again fill my forms and send them after getting my reniewed one? Please suggest.

I would suggest you call CIC or consult Immigration lawyer rather than looking for answer in this forum. This a serious thing. ???
