Hey guys, im a bit late joining. I am the sponsor, a Canadian citizen. My boyfriend is from Ireland, we submitted our in land application on November 8th. I just recieved a letter yestaurday from immigration saying they received my sponsorship application. Does anyone know how much longer it will take after email notification for first stage approval? Also, when you hear about first stage approval does the work permit come right away with that?
Last question - these spreadsheets with all the updates are great, except for one thing. How come there is no where to put whether your application is inland or outland?? this makes the first stage approval processing times very confusing. Outland apps for first stage approval is like a month where as inland it says it takes about 6 months. On all of these spreadsheet it looks like processing is only taking like 40-60 days so i am a bit confused....any insight?
well the spreadsheets are mostly for applicants outland because the process is quite different than inland.... and there is an inland thread that gather applications per year - as you say, the waiting times are very different between the 2 processes, so it's difficult to get everything together.
On the spreadsheet - as long as there is a VO indicated, then it's outland. If instead of an outland VO it says Vegreville, then you know it's an inland application...
if you're applying Inland, I would suggest that you follow both this thread ( if you feel like it, and you're always welcome here of course!) as well as the Inland 2012 because you will have more people on the same timeline as yours...
For your question - normally first stage inland is 6 months. But it seems that some people have gotten the approval in less than that recently. However, I would not count on it. Since you applied in November, then 6 months from now - beginning of April. You're lucky because you got an AOR for Inland, a lot of people don't, they just hear from CIC when they get sponsor approval...
For the work permit - did you submit the OWP application together with your inland application ? if yes, then it will most likely come at the same time... I have read about a few cases of OWP not being issued with the first stage, but there always seem to be a "reason" for it, so hopefully you'll get yours at the same time as the approval.
Good luck,
