Hi All,
Seems like many of us are not clear about travel.
As a general rule of thumb, please feel free to travel out of Canada for 1 month before "in process".
Once "in process" travelling is not recommended.

You should never inform CIC of your travel on your own.

Hope this helps.

Yeah, I was thinking about that, but that will just help me in tracking the status of my application right?

Basically, I am pregnant, and my delivery date is in June, I really want my husband to be here for the birth of our baby...but i am SO confused as to what I can do! Thats why I went to my MP, told him my situation, 2 months ago, they sent my medical information to NDVO to see if they could do anytihng, they told us that they finalize over 80% cases in 6 months... this is month # 7 for our application- and my pregnancy. ???

I applied in September, and I know that a lot of July applicants are being approved, I also understand that there are not too many files for August and September, so Im hoping it will go through soon... but then I see that there are still applicants from June or earlier still waiting- and it makes me a bit nervous..

I spoke to a consultant and they advised me to do the Case Specific Inquiry, coz it gives me a place to enter my concern, and attach doctor's note, but I dont want that to hurt my application, coz I cant afford any more delay!! :'(

I know.... a lot of information. -__- *Sorry for the essay! ^

I guess sponsorship approved date is when I got a letter in email stating "You have met the requirements for eligibility as a sponsor. Accordingly, the Application for Permanent

Residence for your relative(s) has been forwarded to a visa office abroad for further processing."

Which was August 22, 2013
Allright. I have added you on the spreadsheet. Thank you for the reply. :)

there are no rules as such....it is the fear that visa office is putting in everyone's minds that makes us assume things that are not true...once a sponsor is approved he/she is free to travel and stay as long as he/she wants in one country. It is the canadian citizens who are subjected to stupid proof that they intend to return. I agree no one has to inform anything to CIC (other than withdrawing sponsorship petition, separation, divorce, change of address, or pregnancy) whether travel or losing one's jobs. Talk to CIC they would tell you there no rules as for how long a sponsor can stay out of Canada. Talk to 10 lawyers, you will get 11 opinions (11th opinion will cost extra).

Hi

Welcome to the forum. You will probably get the PPR when they open your file or early than that. You may expect to hear an update after 4 to 5 months from NDVO. Yes, many ppl got rejected for visitor visa. You can try but i would suggest you to wait until you get visa without any delays. Its spouse because you will be invited by your spouse i think. Ok here is the link to find your MP and contact your MP in Canada. All the best for your processing.

I hope and I believe that your 'general rule of thumb' is not true (sorry, if I sound rude). This is just a myth. All CIC cares about is whether the sponsor is a resident of Canada. And the residency of Canadians is decided by the '183 day rule' (if you stay more than 183 days in a year, you are a resident!). As long you maintain your Canadian residency, you shall be fine. A sponsor doesn't need to worry and doesn't need to inform CIC about his/her travels.

I know this for certain because though I was a Canadian by birth, I have been a non-resident Canadian for most of my life. Currently, my work requires me to travel out of Canada almost every month and I had to spend about 2 months abroad in Dec-Jan due to my work. Hence, I had inquired about this in detail with CIC on their helpline, CRA and some other sources.

Hi there,

Visiting visa success cases are quite low. We applied for Visiting Visa after our Marriage but got rejected even though we have enough finances to show. They rejected based on the intention that my husband would not return back to India. So best way is your sponsor to visit.

Also, PPR some people got PPR in two months and sometimes takes longer. Anyway, I suggest that you apply for GCM notes, email NDVO or call MP just to make sure that you did not miss their request.

I wish you a speedy Visa. All the best. :) :) :) :) :)

Dear all

Thank you very much for your reply

I will shortly get in touch with MP, but any idea of timelines for spouse VISA?

Regarding visitor visa I have my company contacts as well there in Canada and I can get a formal business invitation as well.. Are there chances that visitor visa may get rejected considering I have business invitation for some training and I have tickets ready with me which shows return in 14 days

Pl suggest

Appreciate your reply
And must say this is a great forum !!

Though there are no such laid rules. This is what we have observed in the past. People have tested this in the past and faced the consequence. Some got lucky. Its a decision you will make when you make.
