dear skogutem,
I appreciate for starting the thread nd posting vital information.

In the course of process of application, there are two very important stages,as under:
1 .VISA OFFICE ELIGIBILITY REVIEW.
2. IN PROCESS.

I feel,"IN PROCESS" arrives only after the reviewal part is over,i.e eligibilty check is complete in respect of determination of points etc, pending verification of docs nd credential thereof. There could be many aspects of the docs VO WOULD LIKE TO BE REASSURED ND THEREFORE, DATED COMMENCEMENT OF PROCESS OF DOCS COMES INTO PLAY.
hOW DO U VIEW THIS,PLEASE REPLY.
THANX.GOD BLESS ALL.

As per my observation NDVO work little differently
1 .VISA OFFICE ELIGIBILITY REVIEW or In Process (without date)
This is a high level stage and most of the time you will not see on e-case
they calculate points internally whether you secure 67 or not your file will be recommended for visa officer review.

2. IN PROCESS. (with date)
Visa office will decide your actual points based on your supporting documents and verifications.
VO may ask additional documents or proofs

Not exactly but there are cases where people got document request after medicals and passport request, so cannot predict how exactly VO works.

Hi all,
I have come across something weird.

My lawyer has sent multiple emails to NDVO but they are not replying to his queries to return my passport.

I asked him to send me scan copy of the communications and I realized the email address he has mentioned is DELHI-IMMIGRATION @ interntional.gc.ca , when I visited CIC and CHC-ND website I realised that the correct email address is delhi-im-enquiry @ international.gc.ca .
http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/india-inde/offices-bureaux/new_delhi.aspx?view=d
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/offices/missions/new-delhi.asp

I further searched in google to find out whether I can find DELHI-IMMIGRATION @ interntional.gc.ca in any website and I found it only in http://www.migrationexpert.ca/visa/canadian-embassy/india which is not the official website.

I assume DELHI-IMMIGRATION @ interntional.gc.ca is CHC-New Delhi's old email address which my lawyer used and thats the reason why CHC is not responding.

I request you to help me clear my doubt.
Thank you all

FYI only

Citizenship and Immigration Canada Announces New Immigration Targets

Every year, Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) sets immigration targets to meet the Canadian government’s economic, family reunification, and humanitarian goals. 2012 will see a large increase in the issuance of visas from overseas, with total documents rising from 217,800 in 2011 to a projected 255,100 for this year.

Almost all categories of Canadian immigration will see increases in the amount of visas being issued in the upcoming year. Amongst these, some have increased dramatically. Visas available to parents and grandparents, for instance, numbered 11,200 last year. For the current period, the target has been set at 36,500. Other significant increases have been projected for Federal Skilled Workers (55,900 to 61,000), and Provincial/Quebec Nominees (73,600 to 78,000). In total, overseas visa issuance will rise an impressive 17% for this year. A further 26, 884 visas are expected to be issued to immigrants already in Canada.

On top of national goals, specific visa issuance targets are given to visa processing centers in each geographic region. Overall, these centers are expected to issue a greater number of immigration documents. In the Africa/Middle East region, large increases are planned for the Federal Skilled Worker program. Specific increases in parent/grandparent visas issued from the Damascus office are also expected to occur. In the Asia/Pacific region, overall immigration goals are planned for all but one visa office, with parent/grandparent visas more than doubling. Europe and the Americas will see similar changes. Particularly large increases are planned across the board for the Mexico City and Havana offices.

Immigration targets are set by the federal government with several goals in mind. These goals are carried out under the overall framework of the 2002 Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA). The IRPA is responsible for outlining objectives, but it does not prioritize these objectives or explain how they should be carried out and allocated nationally and globally. Such decisions fall to the current Canadian government. The Prime Minister, Stephen Harper, has previously announced that the central driving force behind his administration’s immigration policy will be economic in nature, and increases to such economically-driven programs as Federal Skilled Worker and Provincial Nominee programs appear to reflect this expressed goal. Further to this, both Federal and Quebec Business class immigration will be streamlined to more accurately target desired business immigrants.

In addition to meeting economic goals, the Government of Canada has expressed other immigration priorities for this year. Of paramount importance is shortening the overall processing times and reducing the backlog of applications currently found in some immigration categories. Steps have been also been made to accommodate a growth in family class applications and improve the Canadian system of asylum and refugee resettlement.

Immigration priorities are determined through a lengthy process of research and dialogue with key economic and social stakeholders. Provinces and Territories are heavily consulted throughout the year for the setting up and running of both provincial and federal immigration programs. Also integral to the decision making process is research on economic conditions and labor market needs. While bringing in immigrants to fill immediate labour shortages, it is also important to seek to address long term issues such as the geographic distribution of labour and the aging Canadian population. Finally, Canada’s capacity to welcome newcomers must be in line with immigration goals so that arrivals may be successfully integrated to their new home. Last year, $600 million was allocated for these efforts outside Quebec, and $250 specifically located to the Province of Quebec.

News Release – Minister Kenney proposes to assess foreign education credentials before skilled workers arrive

Ottawa, March 28, 2012 – Canada is proposing a major change to how foreign skilled workers’ education credentials are assessed, Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism Minister Jason Kenney announced today.
The proposed new requirement would mean that applicants wanting to immigrate as Federal Skilled Workers would have their foreign education credentials assessed and verified by designated organizations before they arrive in Canada.
“Our Government is building an immigration system that is focused on economic growth and ensuring that all Canadians, including immigrants, are able to contribute to their maximum capacity,” said Jason Kenney. “By having their foreign education credentials assessed before their arrival to Canada, foreign skilled workers will have a better sense of how their credentials fit into the Canadian labour market and will be able to contribute their full skill set to the economy more quickly. This proposal is part of a broader package of transformational changes that will make Canada’s immigration policies work better for the Canadian economy.”
A pre-arrival assessment would let applicants know how their education credentials compare to Canadian credentials and it will give immigrants a sense of how Canadian employers are likely to value their education. This will also screen out people without proper education levels and is an important step in helping to address the problem of immigrants arriving and not being able to work in their field.
The assessment of international educational credentials would not mean that Federal Skilled Workers would automatically find employment in Canada commensurate with their skills nor would it guarantee that they would become licensed to practice in a regulated occupation. Applicants who intend to work in a regulated profession would likely need to have their qualifications assessed in greater depth for purposes of licensure by a regulatory body specific to their profession and intended province of work.
“Internationally trained workers make an important contribution to Canada’s job market and the economy,” added Diane Finley, Minister of Human Resources and Skills Development. “That’s why our Government is working in partnership to improve foreign credential recognition so that skilled newcomers can put their knowledge and skills to work sooner.”
Minister Kenney also used the occasion to release the 2011 Government of Canada Progress Report on Foreign Credential Recognition, Strengthening Canada’s Economy. The annual report, led by the Foreign Credentials Referral Office, highlights achievements made by Citizenship and Immigration Canada , Human Resources and Skills Development Canada, and Health Canada to help foreign trained individuals integrate into the Canadian workforce.
Highlights of the report include:

Expansion of the Canadian Immigration Integration Program (CIIP), which is designed and managed by the Association of Canadian Community Colleges. CIIP currently offers pre-arrival orientation sessions in up to 25 countries, based on demand;

An innovative assessment and bridging program to help internationally educated nurses meet regulatory requirements for licensure across Canada; and

The launch of the International Qualifications Network Website for stakeholders to share information and best practices in credential assessment.
