Nope hes from Kenya he is not yet with me he has had his passport requested in Nairobi but it hasnt been returned for 2 months +. Praying for good news soon.

So what do you think of my wife tho....she's only 19, how are they gonna do a background check on her in somaliland?

They will probably look at her police check and verify its a legitimate one probably because its really only a police check from when your 18+. I dont think you need to worry much.

Her police check is what worries the most because it's literally just a paper with her photo. Not to mention that the government of canada barely recognizes any document from somalia.

The best thing to do now is to wait ans see what their response is after sending it. They are quick to ask for another one of they need it.

I see...i applied in april, and was transfered to dar salam in july, and so far no news from them. They say no news means good news.

I ordered my notes few days ago. On mycic, it says eligibility in progress. I was 100% sure it would say review required as they interview most applicants from somalia.

I have a question for you guys.

How does CSIS operate when they do their security checks on the PA? For instance, my wife is from Somaliland (northern part of Somalia) which is the most stable area of Somalia, tho it's not internationally recognized. The rest of Somalia is not stable. In fact, there are no satelite images of Somalia, and there are no embassies there.

On the CIC Website, it says applicants living in SOmaliland must contact the local authorities which is exactly what we did. Basically, they gave us a police certificate (issued by the Somali GOvernment) with her picture saying she has not commited any crimes before (btw she's just 19), and her PCC has NO expiry date. I was told a PCC must have a validity of 6m, but ours has no expiry date, I'm confused. I submitted that PCC in our original application.

So what I'm thinking is that her BCG is gonna say something like 'not traceble' because she has lived in SOmalia all of her life, and she has never left the country. And Somalia has no central Government.

How long do you think her BCG is gonna take?

As ca-ke and the rest have said, security checks are treated individually and i also think it depends on the officer handling your file. The PCC even in Kenya do not come with an expiry date but rather it states that the validity of the certificate or information is as at the date of issuance. In other words, the certificate only gives information on what is already in the records and it does not guarantee anyone that the holder has not committed any offense after it was issued. someone can even commit a crime immediately thereafter. So the certificate just gives information on your criminal record as per the date of issuance.

I think this depends on case to case. But i read somewhere in this forum, there was an application that took 3 months and another one 5 months. Its all about luck and how straightforward a case could be.

Congrats on your PPR Ca-Ke. You are almost at the finish line. Did you finally get in touch with CIc regarding your passport? Just in case you should track the courier if they have received it too.

Good Afternoon everyone!!!

I'm also sponsoring my husband from Ethiopia and were use Kenya,Nairobi has our visa office. The receive my application for Feb 23,2015 with med done upfront.

they requested new information in June 2015 which was good since I had just come back from Ethiopia to visit him and his family.

now in on august 2, I took the day off from work for his interview....the told us to I should be available just in case they call me and he should bring his passport , police report, my passport copy pics etc.... he brought those with him to interview. the interview went well he said... the didn't call me and they told him they will call in back within one week. since that day no response or update on cic.gc.ca website........ I would love to talk to someone who has been in similar position.

i followed up with them after 1.5 months of sending it in and they confirmed one of their workers received my husbands passport. I emailed them as its been about 80 days since PPR and they said its under active review. So I guess the wait continues its draining.
