I LIVE IN CHINA with my wife, most Canadian citizens are not willing to leave their cushy first world country to live with their spouse. Sucks for prs cause they can't but citizens sure can. Get on a plane and go and live with your spouse. We have lived together for ten years, so what would I say nothing, what would I do, get on a plane and move to China with my wife. :P. I getter done, I don't complain but others not doing their job right, I will do that for them too.

That being said if I was a pr in Canada. I would have worked 12 hours days like a redneck albertan on the rigs, so when my wife got here she would have a nice place to live. Chinese live this way in their own country and see each other only on holidays, the wife in Beijing and the husband in Shanghai, sucks but it gets them ahead. Guess that's why China and Alberta are doing so well.

I am a citizen by birth, my current situation is complex, going to live with my husband just is not an option. It is not all open and shut, every case is different.

We are 4 months in(since CIC received our application) and have not see each other in 17 months. I wish it were more simple. I could complain and from time to time I do. The reality of that though is it gets you no where but feeling worse.

I am happy for you! It gives me hope every time I see a PPR or that a visa has been issued.

It is a bit of a catch 22 though. When I see the way that each and every office seems to play by the rules they deem fit, not what is quoted on the CIC site. It might be easy for some but truly difficult for others even if the cases are similar. Perhaps your case was "easy", but does that give anyone the right to finalize your case before all those waiting before you? Again, it is great for you, it is not a personal thing. The system is, for lack of better wording, messed up.

And hey, if you feel like you have happy thoughts to spare, send some our way! I think we are going to need all the help we can get.

How long did it take you to get your Chinese residency?

Isn't there a minimum amount of time you need to be married to a Chinese citizen before they can sponsor their foreign spouse?

Citizenship and Residency are two different things, China doesn't allow dual citizenship. And no sponsorship needed just a job.

I didn't ask about dual. I was under the impression that in order for a foreigner to get residency they have to be married to a Chinese citizen or PR for 5 years. I'm assuming that you married your wife in China and met her there as well.

Nah don't have to be married in China for residency. I had my residence book before I got married but I guess I went the skilled workers way.

No, I found a job through a friend who was living in southern China before I came. (A Canadian) I worked for him for a couple years before I opened my own business. And ya I met a nice girl during that time. (my assistant)

Somebody has a very huge chip on their shoulder it seems. I almost feel sorry for you. Life is short, enjoy it. People don't come on here to be interrogated. Just saying.

Its not an interrogation. I'm wondering why its so easy to emmigrate to China. This is an immigration forum. I'm hear to learn and to pass off things that I've learned. Ttcdfolk doesn't have to answer any questions and I'm trying to word them in a way that he doesn't have to reveal too much personal info.

That chip on my shoulder is my head. I use it to think with and when something doesn't sound right I ask questions.

But China does have food safety concerns. If not, why so many Chinese flock to Hong Kong to get baby formulas in recent times? I would imagine if I am still living in China, I would probably get my supplies from Vancouver. :)

That's true, but I am talking about the economy.
