We sent in the state ones with our original application.

Folks that lived outside Mexico City used to have to send in the state certificates with their application; there are no Mexico City state ones so folk who had only lived in the DF didn't send anything in upfront and only did the PGR ones.

Now everyone only needs to do PGR + SSP certificates.

The relative has to have the same two last names. We ended up sending my hubby's brother to get the SSP.

I did (State of Baja California). As a matter of fact I sent one way back when I submitted my application in Sep 09. After my appeal was allowed this past January, they asked me for a whole bunch of things, and within those things was the PGR and an "Updated state police check from Baja California" This was a few weeks before they started asking for the SSP. By the time I got my PGR document, the rules had changed so "just in case" I went to get the SSP document (it took me 5 minutes) and handed in along with my Baja California state police check and PGR. The guy at the embassy said "good thinking"

you would think they could just have one for the whole country.

like the rcmp or fbi.

but here they have 3 which i assume basically say the same thing.

Ah! so an aunt would be ok. She would have the same last names as his father. This could save a trip to Mexico city!

Careful with the link - both the Emassy and SSP links are a bit outdated. Call them if you want to ensure you have the latest info or rely on folks in the thread that recently went and have first hand info. If you got back a couple pages, I put together a list for someone with links to the posts.

Well I have to admit I followed the link and I read the whole blog ! It was a great read. It made me realize that some of the issues and idiosyncrasies that we have may actually be the cause of a mexican/canadian relationship not merely a relationship lol, it was so funny to read the things he said and your reactions, it was like looking at us ! I think that sometimes I forget my fiance is mexican, he was in Canada for so long and sometimes was more Canadian then me, this was a good reminder that we were raised in seperate cultures and to remember and apprecaite the differences that we share

Couldn't agree more. When we first applied we never dreamed we'd be stuck like this. Looking back, maybe we were better off not knowing anyway . How I will feel about it at the end of the process remains to be seen!

Seeing PPR's come in definitely revives the optimism. Your turn is next Edgar. And with luck and good grace, perhaps we'll not be far behind you.

OMG!!! Mexico city has our file!! Yay!!!
We just never got an AOR!
But we got an email dated july 30 that asks for my husbands medical redo!!!
So we will redo his medical next week and send it asap! Yay!!!!
Now I don't have to worry about it being lost or something!!

Such a releif!
So now I guess they want the medical first and afterwards they will ask for PGR? ?? Would that make sense?
