im honestly not even sure.
we were in canada. we just sent her the fingerprints and carta poder. and she got it from puebla.
i will ask my husband when he gets home from work if he knows where she got it from

i thought i had the police certificates all figured out.. now im confused again lol :(

@ nessa--- whats the difference between ssp, pgr, and state police checks??

lol!! don´t feel confused we will figure it out!!

The state police checks are from each state...the embassy used to ask for them but now they don´t need them anymore. Instead they want the SSP (secretaria de seguridad publica) from my understanding you can only get it from mexico city...but it´s really easy to get all you need is a photocopy of birth certificate and photocopy of IFE. And they give it to you in about 5-10 minutes.

The PGR is more complicated they ask for a bunch of stuff, and pictures, they do the fingerprints right there in the office and then it takes 10 days to get it back if you are in mexico city and about 5 days if you get it from one of the state offices. and you need the letter from the embassy to get it!

Maybe if you aren´t sure, it would be worth just getting another SSP just in case....it´s free and pretty simple to get.

okay one more question... actually 3. ;)
1) when did they stop needing state checks
2) when you get a state check they give you just one for all the states you lived in correct?
3)when you get a state police check what do they ask for ? finger prints and black and white pictures, and copy of id's??

1) since may 25th they stopped needing it. Here is the notice from CIC: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/bulletins/2012/ob422.asp

2) You had to go to each state that you lived in for more than 6 months since the age of 18. So one for each state

3) Not sure about this, I think it´s different in each state. I think in Veracruz all they needed was an ID...maybe someone else can answer this better!

Yes I think with a carta poder...but it has to be a direct family member (parent).

haha great so this doesnt help me than. :(

because my spouse lived in veracruz and jalisco.
but his mom only went to a puebla office with fingerprints and black and white pictures of him and copy of birth certificate and got a police check that said he didnt have any criminalities in any states in mexico... so it was just one that was for both states or all states.
(and i know for sure they needed pictures and finger prints, because they asked us to redo the prints they werent clear enough and the pictures he sent first were color and they wanted black and white so we had to send another set of pictures.)

so now i dont know which police check this was lol

i emailed my immigration consultant to see if she remembers.
but i think next week we will go to get a SSP anyways to be safe.
do you know where in mexico city we have to get the SSP?

thanksss :D

I think someone said (maybe it was Americana in T.O.) that they sent an uncle or nephew and they wouldn´t give it to him....

On the embassy instructions it says: spouse, common-law, parents, children

Here are the instructions: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/north-america/mexico.asp

remember that the address for the SSP is wrong though!!

and just to confirm.
absolutly everybody gets asked for ssp and pgr. even if they sent in a police check with the application before may 25 when they changed the documents requested.

I think they do allow aunts or uncles as long as they share the 2 last names with one of your parents (not nieces or nephews, though). Call to double check but I'm pretty sure someone said their cousin went and they got sent away but were told the uncle or aunt was fine :)

So far evidence is yes.
