Hi guys,

I got my CoPR yesterday. It is just the same day I sent my application package a year ago.
I was not requested to send my passport or copy of passport. I think that because i am from visa-exempt country.
I am planning to go to Carway someday to finalize my immigration process.

Thanks to everyone in this forum. ;)

Hi,
this is very strange, and disappointing.
I would suggest you make all the necessary steps to obtain the PCC within the 30 days window given to you.
Also I would email them and ask whether they had received the PCC you sent 3 month ago.
If it was valid at the moment they received it (it should be less then 3 month old when they get it), then it should still be valid, since certificates are valid for one year.
Can't say anything about the military records.
wishing you luck!

Did the email actually said they will refuse your application if you don't provide the PCC within 30 days?
They usually just ask for it, and say something like:

in order to continue processing your application please supply the ....
This information MUST be received by the office within 30 days...
or something similar.
if you are afraid that you won't do it in time, you can write them an email about it, but they usually reply that you should first try to do it within 30 days, and write them only if you failed, also make sure you would have documents to prove that you tried, and it just took longer.

anyway, good luck! at this point, any news from CIC is good I think, means things are moving. I have a feeling my case is just sitting somewhere and nothing is happening.

Hello, Thanks for a nice replay.
Yes it says they will refuse my application, Bcose they "sent " me a request for that which I never received.
I feel sad bcose, I have been in Canada for almost 4 years, I always follow the rules and then you get this.
I always respond to their email. If I was single I take this much easier but if you have family it is different story.
Just imagine this, if they refuse, I have to do IELTS again  , like I am a little kid or something.
Yes I did send them an email the same hour, hopefully they will respond to me soon.

Hopefully you will have better experience then me.

Best

Hi guys,

I landed on Saturday at Rainbow Bridge, Niagara Falls. It was really busy because of the long weekend. The process went fairly well and officials on both sides of the border were nice. Some tips for anyone else planning to land at this border post:

1. Try to land during the week or early on weekends (i.e. before midday) as the weekend seemed to be pretty busy and wait times were long.
2. Parking at the casino is very pricey ($30 for 24 hours). If you are not planning on spending the night, there are cheaper spots that are about a 15 minute walk away from Rainbow Bridge towards the main strip of Niagara where most of the shops are.
3. Be prepared and carry any correspondence you have received from CIC just in case they ask you to clarify something. Also carry alternate ID like a drivers' license or national ID
4. While I wasn't asked to show proof of funds I would recommend taking a bank statement or your T4s or even your pay stubs as proof of funds.
5. When you "land" in Canada there are actually 2 checkpoints to go through. The first is directly off the bridge. After you have gone through this one you will receive a slip of paper and be asked to go to another building (about 2 minutes walk). The second building is where you will get your documents processed.

Thank you everybody for all your help on this forum. Congrats to everyone who has theirs and to all those who are still waiting - it's only a matter of time before you get it :)

Good luck!

I don't know if I am the only one still waiting for passport request.

Med's Request: 09-02-2013
Med's Done....: 12-02-2013
Med's received: April 7
ecas status: in process.

I wrote email to OttPilot-Immigration @ cic.gc.ca and they replied generic way: " your application is in process"

Is anyone in the same situation from May applicant? More than 3 months since medical.

Congrats trickitt. Really lucky - got your passports back in one week!!

CIC just works in mysterious ways. Makes someone wait for 3-4 months with no response, while others get their passports back within 4 weeks. Not sure if it depends on the circumstances of the applicant, or the efficiency of the case officer.

depends on a lot of things, but mostly luck.

If your application is on the top of the pile, its going to get processed soon. They maintain an order of processing, but it is also distributed among officers. normally every one shares the same timeline... But few lucky ones get it really quick. It is just that their application was received at a time when the officer or office was 'free'.

I have seen ppl, receive PP with visa in 8 months after they applied for CEC. :)
I have seen ppl, wait for 8 months with out any communication. :(

Don't lose hope, just check to make sure if you guys fall in the timeline (+/- few weeks).
Every thing is processing, and you guys are next.

Hi rick1111,

No, you don't need one. Make sure you tell the US border agent that you do not wish to enter the US and that you want to flagpole as you are doing your "landing" for Canadian PR. The agent will give you a form that states that you have been denied entry to the US. This refusal should not affect future US visa applications.

Hope this helps!

Hi tricktt,
could you please describe everything in great detail about your landing? Do they ask for address proof or job offer in Ontario?

What if you are quebec resident and making a landing thru this bridge? Do they ask you for proof of you moving outside quebec?

thanks,
mkapadia
