You're lucky, last time heavy snow was predicted we got a reminder that management does not consider a driving ban to be a valid reason for not coming to work.

That's the perfect opportunity to call in lazy.

My reply:

"Where can I turn in my taxi bill? for reimbursement?"

that's a lot like here! The crazy thing here is that there are so many different altitudes and micro climates we might have only and inch but a mile down the road might have a foot! My husband's work tends to wait till he has already headed off to shut down and then he is stuck on the freeway for hours!!

Calgary is blessed with numerous good/great neighborhoods scattered all over the city. When I start working again, I'm going to find a place/job I love and stick with it. Then I'm going to move (even if I have to rent) nearby.

Nothing will even convince me to do a long commute again. My personal time at home isn't worth it. I'll live in just about any area of the city to get that.

Yeah I get what that's like!! When Brad started working where he is now we didn't make near enough to live close so it was a 25 mile commute which in Seattle traffic was upwards to 1.5 hrs some days! thank heaves he was mostly able to get off hr shifts... then the housing recession hit and as sad as it was to see people lose their homes it was a great blessing for us because we were finally able to find an affordable rental only 6 miles from his work!! Trust me when I say that is next to impossible in Microsoft world!!!!! Now as I look for rentals in Toronto I have a 5km or less requirement!!!

I'm going to aim for walking within 20 minutes (snow free) and I'm a slowish walker.... chub chub chub. Nah, I can walk fast but the asthma makes it really hard. Maybe when I finally get treated for it, it will be better.

If the walk idea doesn't work out, no less than 30 minutes including bus. I don't mind some bus time (time to zone out) but with my feet, I cannot stand for long periods of time. I really don't want to be that person, whipping out a disability pass and demanding a seat...... I usually just grin and bear it, but the day might come when that's no longer an option.

%$@% my health!

Hello everyone :)

I know,.,. I wish.. I would settle for a simple vacation!!! What's new in Candyland???

I know, me too!
Nothing new, unfortunately...happy it's almost March though because that means we're through yet another month of this process! Trying to keep a super positive attitude haha :)
I realized I must look funny today..I've gotten a lot of "Canada stuff" from my in-laws and my husband, so pretty much everything from my mittens to my socks have maple leaves and I even have a "CANADA" lunchbox :D I didn't really think about these things, I use them of course just like any other gifts, but today I happen to have a looooooooot of stuff with maple leaf on, and on top of it under my "Canada" hoodie I'm wearing a "USA" t-shirt :D

How are you? :)

Your meant to be a Canadian Candy now!!! ;) I meant woman!! That is cute.. I love the "Canada" lunchbox idea!!! My hubby steals all my Canada stuff when I go to visit.. needless to say I don't travel with too many things anymore!! Positive attitudes are most welcome around here!!

I am alright.. trying to stay positive like you!! Thinking its time to travel again, those thoughts always make me happy!!! Just gotta decide where I wanna go!!!

Oh I understand haha, I'm proud of my Canada stuff! I even have a flag that plays the national anthem here at work... :D

Yes, it's a great idea to plan your next vacation, I do that a lot too! I used to make these imaginary vacation plans for people at work, like we'd all go travelling around the world, it was fun! Of course it's always better when you actually get to go to those places, but sometimes finding information about other countries on the internet and planning what places I'd visit there makes me feel better! :D Sounds funny but hey it works for me ;)
