I think a lot of people underestimate that change. Especially when one spouse is ready to be together IRL and the other is still plugged in to the computer. Plus dealing with someone that leaves dirty socks on the floor or cleans the sink at least once a day everyday no matter how much her husband makes fun of her....... >.>

Yes, having had one relationship like that fall apart, (at least we were both in the same country that time), I know just how easy something that isn't an issue in the short term or on vacation can become a major problem day to day.

My wife and I made sure our visits weren't always on vacations, we spent time together when one of us was working and a couple of times I went up to visit while she worked and she came back with me while I worked. We got to see how well we did over 6 or so weeks, what each other was like after a crap day at work, etc. I think we got a much better sense of each other and how compatible we were that way.

Such a valid point. That is one thing that I miss due to the fact mr m can't get a visit here. And living there full time is not feasible right now. I'm not sure how excited I am for the adjustment period from holiday/ being on the phone.

Amikety, would they follow up on a tip without evidence? "I'm calling to report immigration fraud." "okay, what evidence do you have?" "uhm, she told me." I wish he would have recorded that conversation without being obvious lol.

Oh Mrs P, I almost cried when i heard that. I was so mad! Apparently there was this other guy who offered to buy her any condo and any car but she refused because he was "shadier" than the 50k guy. Argh!!!

Blueboom, I agree! They are a bunch of stinky arses. I hope CIC sees some red flag and denies them.

Right on Steph. Someone might tattle on her.

Hey guys, I have a story to tell. My husband met this girl at their company's training, and she opened up a bit after finding out that my husband was sponsoring me. Long story short, she's sponsoring an Iranian as a spouse to come to Canada. They are a fake couple, and she's going to be paid 50,000 CAD once he gets his PR. Apparently he went in for an interview and the VO seemed pleased. I sooooo want to report this to CIC but we don't have any evidence, not even her full name. So frustrating!

I'm not condoning any kind of marriage fraud, but I suppose it's better something like this than duping an innocent woman into thinking he loves her and getting her to marry and sponsor him. Then leaving her heartbroken and on the hook for 3 years of benefits.

I agree with you on this one Jim. However there are still some kind of hurt feelings when someone is knowingly conned. It's just sad that this is even an issue.

I'm not sure how much it takes. Without a lot of details, it might sound like a personal vendetta versus a real compliant. I'm sure they keep them on file, however. I imagine you'll need something to ID her though. They can't make a random report for a female sponsoring an Iranian spouse. That would probably cover a lot of couples who are genuine.

Where is Tuyennnniee when you need answers to these fraud like questions!!!

Good Morning everyone.. I am hoping this is a better week!!!
