Welcome Steph! I love to see what it is that brings people into our fun group!!
I hope that the cup works good for me! I pretty much hate having to deal with that monthly pest so much that I would rather be pregnant all the time and that's saying a lot considering that I get deathly ill pregnant! Well ok... so maybe I don't wish I was always pregnant but I would be willing to consider being an "extended nurser" if it kept it away! The nursing keeps it away is a hit and miss thing for me! With my first son I only kinda nursed but he was like 8 months when it started again but after my second who I nursed a lot more it started at the 6 week mark and then was every two weeks :-X until I got preggers with baby 3!! After her I got all the way until she was 10 months old! Now I'm on the count down till we start for #4! Just have that pesky cross continent and boarder move to deal with first

Oh! Actually it's funny, I can talk about blood but nursing and baby things really gross me out I'm a subject of jokes from my family because of that. So therefore.. I didn't know nursing keeps it away! So the bonus of nursing would be weightloss, big boobs and what you just said?

yes and there is of corse the "it's best for baby" (I had to add formula for all three of mine because I don't produce enough milk so gaining weight is in fact "best" no matter what way that happens!!) .. but the downsides are the fact that they eat more often, you smell like milk...sometimes like sour milk..all the time!, you leak (and it is more like a shower head as opposed to a hose.. yeah I thought it would be like a bottle and it so isn't!!) oh yeah and one of my favorites is that any type of stimulation makes you leak... like when you are knitting

Yeah all the pampers and baby stuff ads LIED!!!!! A lot of having kids is gross! I love them to death but with my first I really felt like I must be failing because it was not the calm, pretty, serene thing I thought it would be. There is for sure a dark side to it that no one talks about!

Don't think I'm weird, but I think it's okay to admit that I don't actually find babies cute. Kittens yes, Babies no! I find them freaky looking Of course your own baby will be the cutest in the world ;D

I don't find babies cute either. They don't start looking cute until about a year old in most cases, but honestly, I don't really think they're adorable until they can walk around in their little bitty baby jeans. Baby jeans for some reason are adorable.

But they're cutest when they can make their own dinner, do their own laundry, and live in their house and pay their own bills.

Oh mameelyn, the time I was looking for cups here in Manila, it was nearly impossible to find! Luckily there was a girl near uni selling moon cups. The only brand I could find locally back then. Good thing it worked for me and it's Great that your husband is supportive.

Yay lunas! Take your time with your research. I hope it will be love at first cup with you too

Amikety, my husband was kinda the same. At first he was really grossed out but then I convinced him to agree to pull it out for me if it got stuck. Just to be clear, it never got stuck lol. Just another irrational fear of mine.

Steph, not inconvenient at all! Just rinse it out with water in the sink each time you empty it. If at a public toilet I bring my water bottle to rinse. Then when I shower i wash it with soap. Hm, a lot of my friends are pad fans. I preached, but no one converted lol. I hated them, it's like having a dead fish in between my legs. Then again I was always the weird one among my friends

HAHAHAHA!!! I always said it was like a soggy diaper! I always hate that you have to use them after a baby... and the ones you get at first are HUGE!!!!!!!!!!

Omg...dead fish is so apt.

Also, how often you empty a cup depends on your flow. For me, the first day is really heavy so I would empty every three hours otherwise my cup overfloweth, and I usually used organic liners just in case of leakage on the first day. By the third day it stays in for 10 hours. One time I forgot I had it in for like 20 hours. It was not cool but did me no harm. It all depends on your body! Luckily I can find private washrooms where I am when I am in public so I don't walk around with wipes and water bottles.

I know how hippie this sounds (but ok I am a hippie) but the cup really allows you to track and understand your menstruation more. I definitely became more in sync with my body and menstrual health and it's because of the slight learning curve at the beginning. We are used to and taught how to use pads and tampons, which don't require us to know much about our bodies (shape, flow) other than that they are bleeding! Pads and tampons give false impressions on how much you actually bleed, but they dominate the industry because they are so profitable for big companies (and who can blame them for wanting to profit) and few people are aware that there are more choices than disposable pads and tampons!

In news grosser than bleeding, I have a math test today!

I tend to think I'm very in tune with my body - I pay a lot of attention to it, all the little aches and pains, how it reacts to certain situation, etc. This is how I've come to the conclusion my health isn't that great. I'm also very honest about it, yet people seem to think I'm just being silly or trying to get attention when I come out and say "Yes, my body sucks at this or doesn't handle this well." Sigh.

Then there's the doctor that just doesn't believe me when I say things. Such as - I hate the blood pressure cuff. It hurts me. As soon as I see it, my subconscious reaction is to tense up and my blood pressure shoots up. So the doctor has determined I need a lipid test because my blood pressure is so high. It's like.... dude.... get the finger cuff. You'll see my chubby butt is well within normal range.
