background checks are done in two parts :

1. Checking of all your documents that you sent to your visa office. This happens when your ecase shows in process. This may include verifying with your employers and so on. If all your documents are perfect , you get your medicals , if not then they probe further n further till they are completely satisfied.

2. Security checks : this is done after your medicals . This is to ensure that you are not a threat to Canada and they will conduct a detailed checkup regarding any criminal issues and offenses you have been accounted for. If you have travelled to many countries , then they would look into all that . Nevertheless, if everything is good you would get passport requests. They usually say wait 4 months after medicals to expect passport requests. But it can be done earlier as well.

So this group members are all awaiting for their security checks o be done ASAP

Hi Lovie!

None from my side, as my med was received only by LVO on July 3. But I was positively hoping (considering the freeze in new applications) that LVO will make our process more faster. . . and we will receive our PPRs in a month ot two

No updates from my side either :

However, noticed that LVO applicants who had their meds done in May have started receiving PPRs lately, while a few more positive updates from those who had completed meds in Feb~April.

Received a call from the CS girl at HSBC a couple of days ago saying the request is with the relevant department and she will let me know as soon as they hear something. She also mentioned that it should not take more than 2~3 days, so hopefully will hear something by tomorrow (before weekend here in Dxb)! Otherwise, a leisurely trip to their Bur Dubai branch again, where I've become (sort of
) a familiar face lately.

I completed medicals on July 4th 2012 (very close to June ;D ).
Medical results sent on July 6th and delivered July 9th.
My medical request says to give them 3 months to review medical results.
Time to relax for at least 3 months and try to distract myself from thinking about immigration :-\

Has anyone got the "medicals received' line in their eCAS??

Application filed to Sydney, NS on 29Feb 2012
File number from Sydney, NS received on 23 March 2012 by e-mail.
Medical request issued 12 June 2012 and received by post (reached my lawyer in Canada on 19th June)
Medicals done 4 July 2012, sent 6 July and delivered to London on 9 July 2012

ECAS in process since 19 April 2012

Thanks Lovie for your answer, you mean that in this stage only part 2 will run or they review all previously checked documents i.e part 1? I hope they don't request update of PCC which I did at 25.5.2012 as it is fatiguing.
