I don't think it's about being married for less than two years. Most people who file are only married breifly before filing. I was married 10 months before filing but that's because everything was so expensive and we had bought a house adding to our financial strain. We had been together for 6 years but only married 10 months.

My mom and her husband who has been here now for 4 years were only married a month prior to filing and he landed 10 months later. They had been together for 6 years prior to their wedding

One of the couples I spoke about before had only been together for less than a year before their wedding and filed after a month of marriage. He landed after 7 months.

Another couple I know we're only together 6 months prior to their wedding then took an additional 9 months to file I believe.. He landed after 14 Months but they filed during the strike a couple years ago.

As long as you show your commitment to each other and can proof a genuine relationship you should be fine.

However, what do I know, I'm pregnant, have been with my husband for 6.5 years, we own a home together, had many guests fly in from Canada, Hong Kong etc for our wedding and he's not here yet (in fact he is getting an interview according to our case notes) so there's no way to be sure what couple they pick to scrutinize.. It's a coin toss. Probably depends who looks at your file and how they feel about their own life that day.

lol at the end of it all i think that really is what it come down to... the mood the person working your case is in that day, because they don't know any of us personally, so they only know what we tell them so there is no real way for them to know if a relationship is TRULYYYY genuine...

i just hope the best for all of us....i hope someone gets some good news soon.... will definitely be a great motivation.

.

My husband and I were married for 2 years before we applied. This was also partially because my mother passed away the sept after we married so everything had to be postponed . I included a letter in our application detailing the reasoning and we were good , no problems. And your right it is all dependant on how the VO feels when assessing you file . I know for me this process has by far been the most stressful thing in my life .
@shorty .... My husbands friend is asking and I thought since u knew they do phone interviews you have have more info for them then I do ...

Do you know if after they ask a couple questions on the phone if they would have a in person denial or a straight out refusal ??

Personally I told them I can't see them denying them without a inperson interview ..
I feel bad for them especially considering when he answered no to her having a criminal record when he knew Yes she did have one , just a DUI but still !! And he knew she had this but he didn't tell them .. I asked why he didn't and he said "because I didn't know if she told immigration about it .... I told him straight up that was stupid because immigration clearly knows all about the sponsors past ...

I feel terrible for them and like I said unfortunately even a innocent mistake could be classified as misrepresentation ...
The visa officer did tell him when she ended the call "she was thinking about waving the interview " so I'm hoping that the call was just to determine if a interview was needed and they will get another chance to plead there case ..
Or they could be unfortunate and have the app sit there for another 6 months before receiving refusal ...

Does anyone know if every single question at a interview has to be answered correctly or do they accept if a Answer it wrong , cause in all fairness I know people who have been married 10+ years and if they were asked questions about each other some they wouldn't get correct ..I guess it would obviously boil down to what the question was and how important the answer is to know ...

I'm pretty sure there is a couple on the spreadsheet that was denied without interview.. But who knows what the circumstances were. It could have been the medical Check or criminal record check but the spreadsheet doesn't say...

I would like to think that they wouldn't deny without interview. I also wish they would interview both parties if there was any question about the validity of a marriage. Going through the interview questions that have been posted there were a few things I hadn't told my husband, not out of secrecy but just hadn't ever came up. Also if they're asking him things like when were we first intimate etc, would they not need to verify the awnser by asking me? It seems like they just base it on opinion and how confident the person being sponsored seems in the interview.. I am much more open to strangers than my husband. He doesn't like people in his business, I don't really care about nosey questions- I will tell you anything. Too bad we don't get to participate.

Yes they can do refusals without an in person interview, which is awful. I dont think thats fair, because not everything thats on paper explains the situation properly you know what I mean? I can write "I love my husband" a thousand times on paper but that would never show you how deeply in love we are. We are best friends and anyone that saw us for 5 mins could see we are what true love really means.
It all depends on the officer you get and how they think things look at the time. I think if your proof is in order then you should be ok, even if they just have additional questions, thats ok but I would think a flat out denial without an interview would be more for people who have met once or twice and got married after knowing each other a month and have a huge age gap and financial gap as well, things like that.

Okie...Well I will just sit with positive energy and whether PPR, phone call or face to face interview we just not get overly anxious and not panic. We got an idea of the questions they will ask by some of our fellow forum members and we know our spouses and the answers. So...lets all hope for the best and all in all, case by case, random or otherwise, we be ready. I well want to get just PPR and go live life me and ma hubby still....Ready up!!!!!

Guys...A VIP member in another forum posted this article. As you know Canada's election is coming up in Ocotober and of course immigation is top on this list among the parties. Not saying it will immediately, indirectly or directly affect us, but I am thinking/wondering if it will affect immgrants in some way shape or form in some classes depending on who wins of course. The again if the ruling party wins...maybe it will be business as usual...more theory and promises than real, truly real?...I know nothing of this stuff I was merely reading....I just want to know with any policy if the processing times will be shortned so ppl can be with their spouses quicker...How about that policy makers...I not fighting the system still, just well want to join my hubby quicker along with everyone else on here....

Anyhow it makes interesting reading in the least...

The calling interview isnt a new thing tho, its normal and has happened alot. Maybe its just becoming more often lately or we are just hearing about it more since we may know more people going thru the process as well. Either way I welcome the call.
I think panic can set in and being put on the spot may cause some people to be nervous and say the wrong thing by not explaining properly but they could explain it better in an interview to an officer face to face, but to have completely opposite information from your spouse isnt going to look good. Paula, hopefully your friends can explain that if they get an interview.
Im sure they would have concerns due to her job choice (im not judging at all), but thats how they are down here. One tattoo makes them think you are a gangster. You never know how these visa people think.
Good luck to them.
Goodnight everyone i am lonelydreadswife hubby just wanna say hi and thanks for all your help Jah bless

. Your wife assuming she is the sponsor would check her Ecas with her client id and her info .... The applicant or person applying for PR status would check into Ecas using there application number and info ... I believe the application number starts with a letter , mine was like this 5763... And my husbands in Jamaica was the application that went like this F000
