Question for all that have taken the test.... Besides studying the book what else have you done to study? I am trying to prepare for my test on Sep 1st and for some reason just can't retain anything :(. I am getting a little nervous as I don't have much time left and I am having trouble remembering all the dates and names from history. I have practised with numerous online tests.

Any ideas or suggestions? Any help is greatly appreciated!

I didn't try anything at all outside of the study guide. What I did is that I went over the study guide four times. The first time I wrote down notes of the key ideas and names and events and dates in every section. These were my "notes" and I carried them to work and went over them during lunches and breaks the two weeks before the test. Make sure you write down the answers to the questions and "fill-in-the-blank" items in two of the sections (you'll see them when you get to them).

At home, I went over the guide three more times. Once by listening to it, and two more times by reading it online. I felt in pretty good shape by the time I was done studying, but then in all fairness a lot of the information I was already familiar with because I'd been reading the Historical Atlas of Canada from the library.

It was really not a hard test. I expected it to be harder. Instead, I found a lot of the answers could be guessed if you had the right instinct about Canada's make-up. You do need to know the basic geography and the economy of each region because it will be asked.

We were given 30 minutes for the 20 questions and I was done in half the time, even though I went over all the questions twice. Twenty correct out of twenty. I wish my interview had gone this well.

Thank you guys for your help. Ms.kaka and Marcus I have followed your advises and just kept studying and elie72 that link you provided is awesome..... I am still a little nervous as the notice to appear to the test is fairly short but I will utilize all my free time over the next three days as well.

Hi Rigly,

I see your exam is coming up soon, I just want to wish you good luck! don't overthink it, you'll do fine! My friends who've taken the test all said it's very easy, mostly just common knowledge.

Hi All,

I'm almost certain that my application will be returned, can I send a new one right now or I should wait to receive first one?
is there a form in returned application that I need to send with new one?

my application was sent from Toronto on July 28 and it was supposed to be delivered after long weekend (August 2), so I dated it August 1. but, it was delivered over night! on July 29. No AOR or return yet.
I was checking ECAS with UCI number and couldn't find anything till a few days ago that it shows my initial status for immigration.

Hi there,

In my experience, you have to wait.My application was return when I applied last year, due to the new policy of 4 out 6 years rule.I was not able to beat the deadline, they change their policy a day before my application arrived in their office.

The reasons why you have to wait is that there is a form or additional documents that you need to file up, this new form or document will be sent to you together with your returning documents. It is only one or two pages, you need to sign it also at the end, which is very important and information is given if they need additional documents or reasons why they return your applications.

The document I mentioned above is very important as you send your new application to them.

The other one, maybe they approved your application in spite the fact that you are 99% sure, they will return it.
