Congrats on the progress!

Yes this is normal. They will not update the eligibility until they are done the background check!

Thank you! We are so excited! Anxiously awaiting approval haha! :)

Hi,

I just wanted to ask something because last week I received an email from CPCO-FinalRequest-CTDO

Subject: Ready for Visa

Dear Name,

The processing of your application for permanent residence in Canada is almost complete. You must complete the following steps within 30 days in order for our office to issue your Confirmation of Permanent Residence and if aaplicable, permanent residence visa.

Does it mean that I am already approved? Because I checked myCIC and it still says there background check is In process.

They asked for my passport and (2) pictures and the letter that they sent on my email.
From what I heard in the forum, that's it, you'll get your PR visa! Congrats!

Thank you.. I feel so relieved now.

Because on September 29, 2016 they asked for my Police Certificate in the Philippines so I thought they are only asking for another supporting document so that they can proceed with my application. Then as I said myCIC still says there back groundcheck: In Progress, that is why I feel really confused and nervous and I read some of July Applicant after they received that kind of email, after 2 to 3 days their myCIC changed to approved.

My ECAS and My CIC is so confusing.

On my ECAS says Decision Made, Principal Applicant and Sponsor however on MyCIC it still says there that Back Ground Check: In Process.

What does it mean?

should I stop worrying now? or I still need to think of the process?

Well, husband and I called CIC this morning and found out they forgot to send us his passport request! >:(

Will be expecting it sometime this morning to finally get things moving.

Hi all,

I can report some progress. CIC requested our FBI clearance on Oct. 27. (I hadn't sent it in because there was an error and I wanted to send in the corrective documentation at the same time.)

So this means that the file is being looked at. Pretty much keeping in the time frame I have seen from other posters.

One thing I am a little confused about, though. We are from the US. So I guess we are "Visa Exempt"? Does CIC still ask for a passport to be sent? I supplied a copy of his passport with the original application.

Thanks in advance ;D

Yes! He will still get a passport request, however, he will not have to send in his physical passport, only photocopies of it and two passport photos. :)

Awesome! :)

Still absolutely no movement. Background job is still "Not Started". I'm so bummed out.

Wow, it is taking a while. :( But maybe November will bring you good news, I hope!

We had to call CIC back and we found out they had my husbands email wrong. They did send him a passport request back on October 14th, but wrong email.
So now we are waiting for Ottawa to resend us the PPR to the correct email address. Such a pain!

I really, really hope you will get updated for November so you can be done with everything before Christmas.

Thank you, PandaChan! ;D I did send in a photocopy of it with the application plus 4 photos. Will they want those things again?

Hi Panda,

What number did you call? I'm not planning to call any time soon, but might be nice to have the number if I need it down the road.

Thanks!

This is the number we called; 1-888-242-2100 However, it is a Canada only phone number, so your husband would have to call them and then invite you into a conference call with them, since you have to be on the phone as well in order to receive information about your PR status.
