On a whim I emailed the CIC to check and make sure they didn't email me back, fully expecting not to hear anything. Surprisingly I did, and they said they have my application and are processing it. I guess there's relief that it hasn't been lost, though seeing the background check to change to "in progress" would be great.

Alright, so after calling CIC for a third time, the agent actually told us not to wait for the resending of the PPR from Ottawa as that could take weeks.
He told us to send a photocopy of my husbands passport and 2 passport photos and to include a detailed letter of what happened in our situation. So we have done that...

The email the agent sent us had a Nova Scotia address, but we used the address that was in Ottawa. Laurier Avenue West.
It arrived there today. We are hoping and praying that this was the correct address and correct thing to do.

I think you sent it to the correct address because base on the email CPC sent us, if you have a mailing address in the USA you send photocopy of your passport and 2photos to Laurier Avenue West. And if you have Canada mailing address you send it to a PO Box address

I think i need an another opinion. I ' ve sent and email to Rome VO askinf if i need to provide my original passport if it would be requested. And i got this reply..

Please provide your file number in all correspondence.

Your application is not yet finalized. For a Greek citizen we require only a photocopy of the passport – not the original. We will also require photos which are compliant to new specifications – as per attachment. If you did not provide these up front you should submit them now.

Is that a sight of progress? Does that unofficial mean that my application is close to be finalised? What do you think about?

Hi Everyone!

Today, I received an email that myCIC had been updated - yet there are no updates! Still says background check in progress and final decision not made. So I found this a bit odd...

However, today my husband also received an email from Vienna office asking for (a copy of) his passport and 2 passport photos - this is PPR we guess, and very exciting!! But at the same time we find it a bit strange as we had previously been dealing with Ottawa!! Anyone have any info on their PPR coming from a different visa office? They also ask for both a copy of the biometrics page as well as the original passport, but we assume he only has to send a copy + 2 photos as he is from the Netherlands. Also strange since we sent in 8 passport photos with the application Can anyone confirm a copy will be sufficient? I assume the letter is just worded to be applicable to everyone.

Happy to report big movements!!! But it seems every step of this process, even the exciting ones, results in confusion and more questions

I've seen this happening before in the Vienna VO thread.
I got an email regarding an update today, as well. For me, the interview field changed to 'not needed at this time'.

Unfortunately, i think they simply answered your question... they didn't actually request anything yet.
Had you actually provided your application number in the email?

If you hadn't, this is just a generic answer they would have sent to anyone.

Thank you, I will try though it's hard not to get discouraged. I'm assuming at this point if I called they'd tell me nothing because the wait time is technically 15 months.

Even though I'm an August applicant my SA was approved very fast and the PR was processing in Ottawa as of August 22nd. We submitted an ATIP request a month ago as we were curious to read the notes and got an email on the 25th asking us to sign a form for them to release notes (oops) so we emailed them back and waiting still (probably another 30 days lol). Hopefully we both hear back well before then on the application, I could care less for the notes if we can get approved soon

Hey there knowledge101, I'm just curious as my app is at Ottawa VO as well (american PR app), is your background check in progress yet? I'm trying to decide when I can expect that *might* change to in progress on myCIC to keep my sanity while I wait...

No mine still says "Not Started". From what I've read online the background check does not go into In Process until they've approved your PPR and happens usually a week to a few days before they send you the visa (in rare cases it may be a bit longer)

We are very straightforward (I thought) - Candian husband, American wife, dating for four years before getting married, taking trips, our families are extremely close, and we have a child so I really don't understand why we seem to be at a standstill. I know in the scheme of things people often wait much longer, I'd just been encouraged initially by seeing all these quick approvals. Oh well. Hopefully soon!

The only reason we ordered notes is because we weren't sure if our evidence of returning to Canada was sufficient so we thought the notes would help us prepare documents in case they are thinking of requesting more evidence; but yes other than that I'm not very worried in all honesty I did not expect things to happen this fast anyways! Most likely we still are in the queue and our folder is coming up very soon in line if not already being worked on!
